Got a new 07 LS2 with paddles. If I drop into S, set the DIC on competitive driving mode, and kill the AC...from about 5-10MPH RS, and nail it............shouldn't it be smokin the tires? Seems to be running great, but the tires are not smokin.
Today, I was merging from a side street into busy traffic. WOW, I didn't know I had my C6 in Competitive Driving Mode and I stepped on it to move into the left lane. The rear wheels were spinning like crazy with lots of sound, and I spun to the opposite side of the road. Then I pulled the wheel back into the correct lane while my heart almost came out of my chest. All of the people were staring at me like - what an a$$. Okay, I'm a first time Vette owner and this isn't my father's Oldsmobile!!!
George - I guess you better not let me drive your car!
On Cool to Cold days the car will spin them from a dead stop all the way in to 2nd, but....
If the streets are hot and sticky it will just grab and go.
With this in mind, I always leave AH and TC ON in my automatic, I don't like being surprised.
I also find it the fastest way to apply power on the street.
In my 2006 manual coupe I always turn just TC OFF as I am more in control of what will happen.
Also, with manual trannies the computer will tend to cut power on the shifts from 1-2, and I don't like taking a chance on the car falling flat on its face.
As for smokin' your tires...as mentioned there are many variables (obviously turn TC off). The C6 is fast and has power but I never found the stock C6 particularly adept at 'lighting them up.' Also, runflats seem to squeal but they don't produce a lot of smoke. Smokin' your tires may give you some satisfaction but it doesn't contribute to a faster time.

Yeah, you should be smokin them......I drove a stock A6 and it broke loose......... my problem is not enough traction

Agreed. Not much low end grunt....wish someone would make a damn torque converter for the A6.

of course I can smoke them when launching (popping the clutch)
But I can not smoke them from a roll of say 5 mph.
At first, I was worried that I got a "slow one" but i managed a 12.8 ET my 1st time at the strip... so i know the engine is performing as it should.
I guess when it's <50 degrees, and the pavement and tires are cold, the tires will spin.

That's torque management and the fact that these motors don't start workign till 3k-3500. Put it in first, take it to about 2500 and then stab it....she'll wiggle a little.
Every car has it's sweet spot. Honestly, NOT spinning them is better. Yea, TM can suck, but jimspeed went a 1.75 60' on runflats with a mn6, and I went 1.88 in an auto with TM....so these guys that blame their 2.3 60's on TM are full of it, especially the stick guys, stick cars in my experience are less effected by TM, however, I will say that I think I could go a much better 60 without it in my auto.

The only time ive gotten my MN6 z51 tires to break loose in 1st is when the tires were BALD. the z51 tires are just too sticky and TM inteferes.
edit: They will also spin when botht the pavement and tires are cold (<50 deg)
My MN6 Z51 will light um light um' up rolling along at 20 in 1st and nailing it. This is with all the nannies operating. You must be turning them over. I've noticed they don't make a lot of noise however.
