Z06 Tran & Diff capacity

Service manual says 4.1 quarts for the Tranny of DexronIII or Dexron VI (synthetic)
Auto Tranny fluid in a manual imagine that!
Service manual says 2.7 qts. of synthetic axel lube and 6.4 oz. of limited slip diff lube additive. After filling it is Important to raise rear wheels -run in 2nd gear at 10 mph for one minute. Recheck fluid and top off.
I just changed mine last weekend but the trans did not quiet hold 4qts. before it started running back out the fill hole. I will check again tomorrow and top off if needed.
To drain the diff you remove the c clip holding the cooler line at the bottom of the diff and loosen or remove the bolt holding the line to the side of the diff then pull straight down on the cooler line and it snaps out of the bottom of the diff. To reinstall the cooler line before refilling install the clip into the fitting and then push the end of the cooler line back into place and it will set with a distinct snap. Service manual says important to use a new c clip but dealer said they never do and clip is only sold if you buy the complete fitting. I just put a pretty good squeeze on mine before putting it back on.
By the way when you remove the tranny drain plug put the catch bowl about 3 feet away from the hole cause that fluid does not run straight down but spews out horizontaly clear to the right rear wheel. It actually wound up with a good amount on the tire and wheel and a few spots on the brake disc. The other 3 quarts were on the floor -half a quart in my hair and underware and about half a quart in the catch bowl.
Diff fill plug is tight at 26lb ft
Trans plugs (drain and fill) are tight at 20lb ft
You can get the fluid pumps you will need at western auto type store for about six bucks each, use a seperate one for each use so you don't mix fluids.
Oh yea what was the question? Oh Ok 4.1qts. and 2.7qts. plus 6.4oz.

Did the same thing. Mine would not take 4 full qrts either.
