By just putting the resistor in there you don't add any connections, solder joints, wiring ... to fail. Countelss "CAGS eliminator modules" have failed leaving you with your pants down at a dealer. I've done tons of these resistor only mods, not a single one has ever failed.
Your just jamming the resistor directly into the CAGS female connector. Bend resistor into a U shape, Jam it in, tape it up, zip tie it to the side of the trans and forget about it for the life of the car.
There is no reason to have the exact same resistor only with a plastic box and wiring and 20 to 30 bucks more. Follow the F-body crowd way of cheaper and more reliable.

I checked my bill and it shows a P0803 code...seems to have something to do with the "skip shift solenoid." I'm not sure if there's any way to ops check my CAGS eliminator or not. Maybe I'll just install the resistor as recommended above.
Thanks again for the great info!

been using the rs version for the last two years without any problems.
when the dealer replaced my clutch under warantee they didn't say anything about it, nor did they reconnect it. in fact, he actaully tied it back a little better than i did.
edit: here is the rs cag eliminator info.
this is from DocRings1 (the c6 faq master)
"Today I used the Radio Shack resistor MOD...
BUT: I was able to fit it into the original plug AND put the plug back into it's original fitting on the tranny.
0. Buy a five pack of 2.2K Ohm resistors at Radio Shack for $1.00.
Part# 271-1121, the employee can find it for you.
1. Trim each of the leads on the resistor to about 1.5 inches long.
2. Fold them both at 90 degrees to the resistor.
3. Unplug the CAGS plug from the tranny.
4. Insert the resistor into the CAGS plug (there are only two holes).
5. Slip the resistor down until it is flush with the plug.
6. Reseat the CAGS plug into the tranny fitting.
7. The extra space of the resistor will not let the bracket lock, but it will be a tight fit.
8. Secure the plug to the fitting with a zip-tie angled into the "neck" of the fitting to retain the plug. Trim the excess zip tie material flush.
Except for the zip-tie, it looks stock: NO TAPE, NO EXTRA length of CAGS bypass wiring, just a barely noticeable zip-tie. I doubt if even the Chevrolet dealer would notice the mod at all.
I had been reluctant to try this resistor mod due to all the electrical tape and wanting a stock appearance... this solves BOTH dilemmas, and for my $1.00 at Radio Shack, I've got four more resistors!
VERY NICE! And still weatherproof.
It took all of 10 minutes and that included jacking up the car!"

Question...I thought the Cags was a "pug and play" type thing like the similar to the Window Valet?
Also thought if you had to go to dealer for service that it could be unpluged if necessary?
Is my thinking off? I have not seen any photos yet?
Thanks!

This did not work for me.
Has anyone else tried this?

If you DID place the resistor leads in the harness plug, then the leads somehow didn't make good contact with the terminals inside the plug.
