It amazes me when people start bragging about money or women or their worth .... now I know where the kids from grammer school went ...
In truth, people who really have $$ don't need to mention it.
Wasn't braggin, just setting the record straight for a certain somewhat pompous, egocentric C6 owner who automatically assumed status by the Vette they own. In truth some of the richest people in the world don't have that much monetarily.
I have no doubt that I could autocross faster in my old modded Miata than my C6.
Actually I was refering to real road course racing like at Willow Springs or the inside track at Cal. Speedway; not parking lot, I mean Auto Cross racing.
the winner of the past couple of autocross championships drives a stock 80ish vette therefore its the driver... what good is a corvette anyway if you dont know how to drive it my guess is people are adapting to the new components and performance of the c6 you cant just sit in a new car and know exactly how to drive it to its best. you gota get the feel of it.
Best autocross times by generation this last Eureka Springs meet.
I was laughing so hard I could barely write down the numbers!
C4-23.81
C5-23.86
C6-24.78
Draw your own conclusions.
Too few data points. Best thing is to look at the PAX index for their respective classes.
People who cant afford a C6 hang out in the C6 section bashing the car. In Kindergarten they told us a story of a wolf that couldnt get to the fruit in the tree.......
Then, when they cant get the response they want with the car they attack the owners:
I wish you would make up your mind since you recently called it a great car:
And lastly you shouldnt be so hard on yourself when posting:

That's some funny S _ _ _ guys.[/QUOTE]
Hey Hammer you're supposed to be backin me up...........it was some funny chit though!
Couldn't help but recall - with still considerable amusement - an autocross I participated in some 20 years ago now. The course was wide open, including a nearly 1/4 stretch as well as the usual slaloms
and challenging gates. IOW a fast course suitable for big bore iron.
It was an open event and so a convoy - 12 or more Corvettes- arrived
with great enthusiasm and not not so subtle commentarry about the
"Mickey Mouse" nature of the course and the vehicles present. What followed was very humorous and very deflating for the "Vette" crowd.
There wasn't a vehicle among them (some with stout motors) that came
within 10 seconds of (this was a nearly 2 min course) the Hondas,VWs, Lotuses, MGs and, yes, Camaros and Transams present that day.
Some of the group could obviously drive, but most were openly
perplexed and embarrassed with their inability to "show the way"
to the mostly Import crowd. Things like power to weight, suspension tuning and most importantly, proper tires, seemed to completely escape the mind set of this bunch. Of course much has changed since then,
especially Corvettes. However, the fastest machine at the last drag
race I attended was, of all things...a SkiDoo with an 8 second 1/4 mile
blast! Go figure.
Currently trying to piece together a grenaded rear. But, I like to break stuff, it gives me something to do.
There is nothing wrong with a little fighting among cousins. I'm glad to see that the person who started the thread has taken the jokes and C4 bashing well, as he should have for starting this thread to begin with. Had he got all pissy about us C6 guy comments I would have lost respect for the guy and thought he was just here to be an ***, not stir up some good natured rivalry. His reaction is a testimate to his class, which may well have summed up the C4 owner best. Jesus, did I just say that? You all stink, who wants to race on a course longer than twenty seconds?
glad to see the "you only own a c4 because you can't afford a c6" people showed up already. Some people will never understand....
How come people who own yesterday's car always end up saying "Some people will never understand...". The Zr-1 was a interesting and expensive car 10 years ago-even though it sorta looks like a bloated 2nd Gen Mazda RX7

That's parking lot racing for you. I attended 1 event about 4 years ago and that was enough. After the start, it was clutch in and shif to 2nd; then there was no more need for a shifter. Bliping the throttle & brakes for 1/2 second intervals is not my idea of high performance racing. The fastest time that day? Some contraption that looked like a go-cart with a 2 stroke motorcycle engine and a giant wing in the back. I imigane a shifter-kart could take anything out there. Big deal. Better yet, how about strapping on roller skates to your feet and a solid rocket to your back and entering the "anything goes" bracket, going around the parking lot, I mean track. "And the trophy for fastest lap time goes to... ***** Coyote!
this thread should be closed..corvette guys should stick together and play as a team..not brag on which generation is better than the other...we should be knocking on Fords and Dodges
the fastest cars at a track are short and wide usually. that provides better handling. The c6 is wider than previous generations and was designed around getting great times on a track like the Nurburg ring.

Heheh, I can't say I've ever heard anyone describe it like that. The ZR-1 looked just like any other C4 with the exception of the rear, and by '91 that distinction was gone. Do you think they all looked like RX-7's? Being that the style came out in '84 and the RX-7 wasn't until '86, I'm not sure Chevy would be the ripoff, though.
I always thought the 2nd gen RX-7 looked like a total ripoff of a Porsche 944.

Awww - knocking on the other guys - that's too easy! Personally, I like ALL generations of Corvettes (although I DO prefer the ZR-1 for the power). I saw a depressingly trashed out, beat up Sting Ray the other day and all I could think about was how nice it would look fixed up. To sleep, perchance to dream - of owning a Corvette from EACH generation...
