I'm going to try and cook a turkey this year...
since my wife is like 9 1/2 months pregnant...
so any help with that please chime in...

It's very easy cooking a turkey! Wash the bird good inside and out, dry it off, use a lite coat of cooking oil over the outside of the bird, then a semi thick coat of butter all over the bird. I use my hands for coating the turkey! Then salt and pepper it, place in a 2" deep pan made for oven use, place foil over it. Cooking times will vary with weight, a 12lb bird at 335 should cook with the foil on it for 1.3 hours, then take off the foil and let it finish. Should take 2h 45mins for a 12lb turkey.

Cooking times will vary with diff ovens say 2h 45m to 3h 15mins.
So slap that bird in the oven and give it a whirl!

udriveslow - good luck with the bird and the baby, and have a good holiday.

Wish you were around my neighborhood - that's a great deal for a cam job.

I love my local shop - HP Performance. They're around 10 hrs, but admittedly there is a bit of socializing going on in the shop most the time. No biggie - they do good work. I'm saving up for heads & a cam - it'll save some labor plus $500 on only doing one dyno tune.

I'm a noob on heads - my shop recommends Stage 2 heads. I want good day to day driveability and I dont plan on doing too much tracking or drag racing. But, if I'm going to do it, I want to do it right.

What's the most aggressive you would go on heads so as to not be a pain driving every day, but getting the most HP for the buck? BTW - I drive a 2006 A6 vert. Also, anyplace you would direct me to so I can learn more about heads/cams in order to make a more informed decision?

Thx!

50 degrees and clear....
perfect night...

thank you... you all have a merry christmas as well....

we are actually going to the hospital tonight...........
maybe...but how things have been going we will be home in the morning...

comp cams has a good web site for the beginner... as dose afr(air flow research)
they spell it out pretty well...
I've daily driven the stage three kit...
they have all been very reliable..
go with a mild cam and a good tune and there isn't much to go wrong..
the LS performance parts that have been coming out in the past few years have been great...
go with what you mechanic recommended
after all he will be fixing it if something messes up...
heaven forbid.

merry christmas every one....

If they are charging you 20 hours, they don't want to do it. Find a shop with an "installed" price that you are comfortable paying and go for it
It took me 11 to swap out my oil pump (having done 9 cams to date)and you still need to remove the radiator, fan, and cam itself. If you can do that all in 6 hours you are far faster than me. Where are you saving the time? I didnt take any breaks.

I normaly only charge 500 bucks for labor...
if i do it at the dealership..
ill have to charge the 16.5 hrs at 86$per hr....

so it pays to be cool..
just think before you talk...
how many of you guys( not the other dealer techs out there)
remove every thing as the book says?try this.. remove the hood....
remove the valve covers, rocker arms, push rods....
remove the air filter, intake tube, and air front air scoop. remove the p/s pump ***. alternator, water pump. remove the radiator and condensor (THIS SHOULD TAKE NO MORE THAN 45 MINUTES)
p/s rack..(not the front suspension and sub frame) remove the harm. balancer.
remove front cover..
remove the timing chain and gear from the cam.. spin the cam ...
remove cam..
reverse to install...

if you cant do it in under 2 hrs... thats why you dont work at a corvette dealership........

AND I WOULD NEVER ATTEMPT TO SAY OR MAKE PEOPLE THINK THAT I COULD TAKE THE PLACE OF THE HARD WORKING STAFF AT GM..

The 6 hours was a rush job, trying to do it as fast as possilbe. I'd say it takes about 8 under normal conditions. Also there were 2 of us, not just myself. I don't make a habit of quick swaps, I just had to put it back to stock before I traded it in. Also, the fluids were drained the night before. Is that cheating

no that is not cheating because the fluids should only take you 4 seconds to drain. Keep in mind when I do my cam swaps in 35 minutes I done even drain the fluids, thats how good I am

C6 cam swap is no small feat, a bit more cramped than the C5's
