When my guy looked, the system called for 20 hours labor to install a cam on my 05 c6. That is with taking the heads off, he said he can do it in half that time w/out taking the heads off. What are you guys doing? Taking the heads off or not? How many hours labor did you guys pay when installing a cam?
thanks
turn key install, including cam, springs and new chain should be no more than $1800 and change. I've done two cams at A&A. Also put new wires and plugs in.

this is from motor alldata this is what a shop should charge for the replacment of the cam..
you leave the heads on..
remove valve covers and remove rocker arms..
remove timing chain and spin the cam..
you will hear all the lifters click..
they are held up by the lifter guides..
then the cam slides out...
Got A quote from a shop here in michigan, labor was 1400.00 alone. Not sure of hourly rate (75-80), which is 17-18 hours labor. Total job with A re-tune ia 2632.00 .
I can swap a cam in 6 hours, these "professionals" better be able to do the same! If you are charged for more than 8, you are being robbed. There are some tuners who will do the job in a day, including the tune.
If they are charging you 20 hours, they don't want to do it. Find a shop with an "installed" price that you are comfortable paying and go for it

shops charge labor times that are given by a labor time guide...
not by how long it takes to do the job....
I can do things in an hour that take most techs 8..
so should I charge 1? or just slow down? or maybe just start sucking at what I do? please be assured that we charge a fair and honest amount for the services provided...
