Default Help Exhaust Systems

I am looking at two exhaust systems - Corsa or the B&B Route 66.

1. Where can I get the best deal?
2. I have a C6 2006 manual and drive long distances, I don't want that "Drone" noise when I am cruising at 60-80mph, that my ears will be ringing when I get out.
3. What is the advantage/disadvantage of the X pipe? Should I install the West Coast Corvette or the original manufacturer X pipe?
4. Where is the best place for installation?
5. What is the difference between the Touring and Sport Corsa?
6. Any pictures of these exhausts systems from your own personal car, not from the website.

PLEASE HELP, there are so many people saying different things, I don't know what exhaust system to get!

You don't say whether you're driving manual or auto, but in any case, I've got an "05/Z51/MN6. Installed the Corsa Sports with Corsa X-Pipe about a year ago. Have been totally pleased with the sound & no drone at crusing rpm. Got mine thru WCC.....seem to recollect the entire package was around $1100 or $1200 & they included shipping. Prices may be a bit higher now, but I've generally found with almost any vendor, that if you can get to the right person on the phone, you can talk you way into a 10% discount or at least free shipping. There's been many, many posts on the Forum with pictures of in-process installs....you can find them via the "Search" key. BTW....I did the install myself. Was fortuante to have access to a lift & it was an easy job, but many on the Forum have also done the install with ramps & jack stands. Good luck!

Just order the Corsa Sports #14169.

I had that on my 2006 C6 Manual tranny coupe and just swapped it over to my new 2007 C6 A6 tranny coupe.

It sounds great with NO drone.

The x-pipe will just quiet it down too much, it already is quiet.

I've also had B&B Bullets on my 2005 C6 A4 tranny Vert andf they had insane drone, I swapped them for Magnaflows #15884 which solved the drone problem, but I like the Corsa sound better.

I had the same concerns months ago when I purchased my exhaust. The best thing I can tell you is to get out and listen to various systems. I think you are in So.Ca., and there is a monthly C6 meeting at the block of orange and you can go and listen to all the systems. As far as myself I went with the Rte 66. The fit and finish are by far superior to the others. The Corsa is a good exhaust and has a lot of support here. I prefered the sound of the Rte 66, and did not like to Corsa logo on the tips. So it was an easy choice, there is a slight drone around 1700 rpm but not bad at all. My car is a M6 and I cruise above that, around 2K. Good luck.

I just got my Corsa Sports & X Pipe installed today.

1. I bought mine in the "For Sale" Section on here and saved a few hundred bucks. Only had 500 miles on it...
2. I have an A4 and haven't heard ANY drone yet. Drone or lack there of was a large concern of mine as well.
3. I believe the X Pipe is supposed to "clean" up the sound. I think it adds a *little* performance gain as well.
4. Took mine to the local Chevy dealer. $200 out the door.
5. Touring is quieter and supposedly sounds a lot like the factory exhaust.
6. I'll take some tomorrow after I clean my car. You can do a search though and find LOTS of them on here already.

Deciding on exhausts is VERY tough given all the different opinions on here. Good luck!

After my 3.73 gear is installed, my RPM at 70 MPH is about 2400. I'm never around 1500-1700 where most drone is for stock gears in a A4. I'm planning on LT headers next. I'll do this with the stock exhaust first to see what it sound like cruising. I really like the sounds of GHL, but don't know how loud that will be with long tubes.

These were also my finalists, and I took the "ROUTE" less traveled. I thought that the deep, bass sound of the B&B Route 66 was perfect, and I really wanted the muscle car rumble as opposed to the higher pitched European sound of the Corsas. You really need to listen to both and make your own choice here.

1. Where can I get the best deal?
Got mine at TBYRNE.

2. I have a C6 2006 manual and drive long distances, I don't want that "Drone" noise when I am cruising at 60-80mph, that my ears will be ringing when I get out.
There is a noticable "rumble" at 1,500 to 1,600 RPMs especially when going uphill on the freeway, etc. Not a problem, and quite easy to shift around with a manual. I actually like this healthy sound.

3. What is the advantage/disadvantage of the X pipe? Should I install the West Coast Corvette or the original manufacturer X pipe?
I bought the B&B X pipe, and I am glad that I did. There is still some burble when shifting or decelerating, but little popping and no backfire-the exhaust definitely flows better with the X pipe. I also installed the Elite Engineering thermal abs.

4. Where is the best place for installation?
I went to my friendly GM dealer.

Good luck with the exhaust system decision. The exhaust upgrade really is a good mod, and makes the car even more fun to drive.

I like the GHL. I have flowmasters on my c5, no drone. My buddy has LT and GHL and it sounds very good. No drone etc.

Save your money and buy a set of headers instead. You will actually get measureable horsepower gains and when you stomp on it the stock exhaust with the headers sound pretty damn good. Best of all no drone at any rpm. Your choice a lot of bark and no bite with aftermarket bolt on exhausts or some bite with a set of headers!

Default Where?

Which headers should I get and where? Please send me some links. Do you have an intake as well?

B&B Route 66 on A6. Not loud, best tips, slight resonance 1600-1700 RPM. No X pipe, or will be as quiet as stock. TBYRNE a forum sponser has best price during GB. Corsa has a different sound, I don't like, but you may. Best of luck! Here is my sound clip.

Billy boat route 66's I have the all, check out my mods in the avatar. I did mine in stages to see the difference in sound and power, Started with the route 66's. At cruzing the same as stock with very slight non noticeable drone. Step on the peddle and you get 25% more grunt at wide open throttle. Install the x-pipe and you will gain some power and some more drone. But, the way to go as mentioned before by member (achilds) if you want the power go with a set of 1 3/4 kooks headers, with the stock exhaust.

I can tell you this, once you get the mod bug you will eventually just do the whole exhaust.

I have owned both of the systems you're looking at, and ran them both on my current C6. I really liked the RT66, nice deep tone with mild drone. I didn't like the Corsa Sport, too high pitched for me. Of the two, I would go with the RT66 without hesitation.

I eventually added headers, and found that the RT66 droned too much for me with them, so I swapped it for the Magnaflow catback system. Much less drone than the RT66, and the same deep tone. This is the system I would recommend to anyone that dislikes drone now, I sold my RT66 after the first test drive with the Magnas.

I went with the American Racing Headers. There are several popular brands and a search will give you all sorts of ideas and opinions. I also have an LPE cold air intake, ported intake manifold by C. Harris, and a tune by A&A Corvette in Oxnard CA. With these mods I dynoed out at 400 rwp and 397 rwt. This is as far as I wanted to go with the car, I just couldn't rationalize cracking open a new engine to put heads and cam in, but maybe later! Best of luck with your mods.

Don't understand why anyone would pay $1200+ for only sound. I paid a little over $300 more for the jet hot coated headers and received an increase in torque, hp, and overall improvement in engine efficiency in addition to the sound (without drone).
