The comments are interesting, but take into consideration the type of surface you will be driving on, asphalt, dirt, concrete, etc. - this will determine how much dirt you will get under the hood. You will still get a dirty engine if drive on a dirt road, no matter what type of system you have. Also the speeds you will be driving - this will determine the amount of air ram that you will be receiving. According to other threads and tests, you will not be gathering that much ram effect until you are traveling near 100 MPH. These cold air intakes obvious will NOT compare to a supercharger systems if you want to get really serious about air intake, air cooling, etc. Don't worry, there is plenty of air for a/c, radiator, oil, power steering, and trans coolers, unless you standing and or nearly standing still. If you are in this condition (standing or near standing), you don't need these mods! That radiator or cooling system is well designed to take all driving conditions and they vary in all types of conditions at once: sun/shade, hot/cold, low/high speed, dry/wet; and you are worried about diverting a very small amount intake area - the third track. If this, the radiator, is that finally turned, I'm sure you would have had a boil over at some point by now. I kind of doubt it. If the Vette was this finely and closely tuned cooling, there would be alot of overheated and damaged Vettes along the road. With all the mods people make on their Vettes (cams, headers, blowers, exhausts, mas, filters, thermostats, etc. which INCREASE HP also INCREASE HEAT. I don't see people changing many radiators out with their mods, usually enough cooling unless you are sitting on a hot freeway for any length of time idleing. You think GM is not going to protect their warranty by an insufficient cooling system, heck NO. Hopefully this helps clear the cooling issur.

If you are concerned about the extra dust and dirt into the engine compartment, then you may not want to open additional areas to add entry points. However, either way I could see this coming in really handy for quick 1/4 mile runs or Autocrosses, and still be in "stock" form.

The way I thought out mine is that the outside air impacts the radiator shroud and creates a swirl away from the impact point. The cut I made is directly infront of where the air starts moving forward, away from the shroud, creating an ever increasing(as speeds increase) force of air for the K&N. While this will not show up on the dyno , it should help pull in cool air for the intake while at speeds. There is minimal areas for fresh cool air to enter as the car sits stock. I also "sealed" off the entrance to the engine compartment with foam weather stripping( to stop debris and other dirt) and the K&N still recieves the air from the other stock locations as well. The way it was made the intake feeds off of alot of the underhood warmed air. If I gain .05 at the track for this , i have $3.00 total in weather stripping, so thats a good gain. If I gain nothing, oh well, I burn $3.00 worth of gas sitting in traffic on the way to the track anyways....All in all, it appears to have a better flow of fresh air to the intake and still has no obstructions to the radiator.

just did it, was easy, pull the main fastner out from under the front bumper then go in through the hood (take intake out itd be easier) then kind push the shroud down and the side fasteners fell out lol and i used some random tool in my garage just to see how itd work, i dnt have my digital cam with me but when i get it will post pics
