Default Actually, you can get some benefit now......

Howard

Actually, for those of you that are not within driving distance of our shop to have your A6's tuned..... Tuning the engine through the mail can actually change the trans pressures and shift points somewhat.....

The trans actually monitors a "Torque Signal" handed down from the PCM or engine computer..Based on this torque signal, transmission pressures are adjusted.....We have found that this trans takes some time to learn or adjust to the new engine settings....

We have found that after only tuning the engine, in a short while, the trans responds with firmer shift and better maners.....

So, ONLY tuning the engine can have an effect on the trans parameters ....it's not huge, but you will feel it....

Hope this helps,
Chuck CoW

I already got a Westers tune for Vette, and though Lyndon's other tunes have been great for my Yukons , I can't say I am really impressed with the one for my Vette. Actually, it was rather disapointing. He couldn't adjust the TM yet. ( I have an 07 with the a6)
I wouldn't lie and say my car flew off the street! But the Diablo really ROCKS! I just installed the ""Diablo Tune"" it's ready to be used with the device and I felt a difference in rpm range, speed and horsepower. Does it REALLY allow you to alter Torque Management settings? Yes sir it does.. But in my opinion.. Take it to an expert in the Diablo tunning.. I kinda messed with these settings then I saw the "Check Engine" light.
But I solved the problem by restoring the Factory Tune. (I also have an 06 with a6)

Chuck, How much HP increase can one expect with your tune on a stock C6? (Manual and Auto) Do you guarantee a specific HP increase? Any before and after Dyno or drag strip results that you can post with your tune vs. others? Thanks.

Does anyone have any before and after dyno or drag results regarding the Diablo tune for the 06 and 07?

Has anyone done any tweeking with the Diablo Tune using a dyno or at the drags? If so, what were the changes and results? Thanks.

Read my post #22
You get like +3hp +Torque from the Diablo Tune (You can find it ready to use in the device menu) But I recommend that someone expert in the Diablo to tune your car for you.

Nope....if you have an 60-07 C6 A6 you can not remove the TCM. It's inside the trans (in the fluid).

Only the Engine control computer......

I thinks a few of us would like to know expected HP increases from a tune but it seems difficult to pin tuners down to a #

Dashti your posts confuse me. On one hand you state the Diablo tune is "awesome". But in later posts you've already put back the factory tune and are looking for another tuner. What changed?

Certainly, every car is different and has different mods....

I think it's safe to say 25+hp up top.....but, bear in mind.... Every person who asks that "how much" question is hoping for some "PEAK" numbers at high RPM's so they can brag to their friends.....

The fact of the matter is that there's alot more than that available down low or "below the curve" but most guys get big eyes for the "peak" numbers....but, That's a mistake....

FOR INSTANCE.....A customer came to me last week with an 06 Z51 C6 with a supercharger @ 7psi. The dude spent about $8,500. for the S/C installed. AND the car made some impressive "up top" or "peak" dyno numbers..... The fact of the matter is that the car was a DOG.... Especially down low....round town....even on the highway.... Once the S/C spooled up...sure it felt peppy....but....his complaint was that he's not in the high rpm's all the time (which most people aren't)....

He had big numbers....but again, the car wasn't fun..... He needed low end TORQUE and HP....

The fix was the HOLY COW HD 4.10 rear end....Now it jamms!

The morale of the story is this....Don't worry about the top end results or "peak" HP numbers.....They do very little for you.....

Obviously, my tunes make more peak power....but, where they'll shine is the bottom end.....Trust me, you'll love it....

I really can't nail it down to a guaranteed number, but....read my feedback on the forum....Search for "mail order tuning" on this forum.... My existing customers are my best advertising!

STAY TUNED!

Ted..
I restored the factory tune not because I didn't loved the Diablo, it's just my cars service time =) If they knew that I messed with my car computer.. My car warranty will be cancelled. That's why I changed to the stock tune.

Thanks Chuck, nice reply.

Chuck, I traded my 2002 Z06 for the 07 Z51 Manual. Needless to say I was disappointed in the power of the new car. Can you please comment and compare the two? Will just a stock tune to the C6 get to the level of performance I felt in the Z06 or do I need to add a few more mods to the car, first? If so, which mods? The C6 does not pull to redline as strong as the Z06. Is this a cam problem? I'm sure all of us at the forum would appreciate your posted response. I enjoy the drags. By the way, the stock Z06 with stock tires, easily ran 12.5 @ 115mph. in 80* at Orlando. Thank You.

Most especially the 06 and 07 model years, TUNING is a must as the PCM has special Torque managment (limiting) functions specifically designed to remove what they felt was "excesive" torque from 3,000 RPM's back to Zero.....Unfortunatey, this is where the car is most fun to drive and also where you spend most of your time.....

No matter which package you choose, you NEED to tune the PCM to get the most out of your car.....ESPECIALLY 06 and 07 models.

Call me if you need help....
