Default Quick question on shifter install

Hi guys

I'm trying to replace the stock shifter with MTI six shooter but got into a trouble. First please see the thread below

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1076419

You can see the black rubber seal in the 5th photo, but mine (07 C6) has another white rubber above the black rubber. The problem is it does not come out without removing the upper portion of the stock shifter (which has thicker shaft extender as can be seen in 7th photo). Does anyone know how to remove this?

And, stock shifter base has a pin in the front portion which is to be inserted in the small hole which can be seen in the 8th photo. (close side to the dash), but the MTI does not have it. Is it OK not to use the pin?

TIA

Doug

You don't need to use the pin. Don't know about the white rubber since mine is an 05.

Thanks for the input. I just cut the white rubber a little bit and pulled it out.
BTW, this 6-shooter makes unbearably loud rattling noise. I don't think it's normal. What can be the cause of the noise? Should I get a new unit from MTI?
