I'd wait. Just too many improvements coming for 08 between the more powerful engine, better Z51, and the better manual tranny. You only have to wait another 6 months.

Exactly what I'm doing. Ordering my 07 tomorrow.

No. With more rated power and even more computer controlled gizmos (Active Fuel Management, Variable Valve Timing etc.) I would think it could be even worse.

New transmission (T-6060)
New interior upgrade option
New red and blue colors
I'm buying this car for pure performance, so the bigger more powerful engine with the upgraded tranny is a no brainer. If you are just looking for a cool looking cruiser, you may not care so much about the upgrades.
Key word there being rumor, this new trans is far from a reality just yet.

I'm not as worried about displacement on demand being a non-sports car/non-Corvette issue. Plus, even if only half the things get into production that are being tossed around here on the internet and CF, I'll be happy.

And one final thing: by then, '08, Chev will have had/be starting on the fourth model year to tweak and eliminate some of the little bugs, not that others can't pop up with new items included such as a man trans or engine management. I think it'll all be for the good! Can't wait.
It will be year one with the new engine. Should wait until 2011.
