Until I see *1* (competent) driver run both cars for several runs at the same track on the same day, I call BS on either side of the arguement (although, statistically, and with both cars' setups, I'd have to give the nod to the C5 Z).
Take for example the thread on page one with a Pro-charged C5Z vs. a Bolt-on C6. That was WAYY too close for what the pro-charged Z should have ran (although, that "small" gap at the end is quite a lot of time when you're thinking realistically in 1320-terms). A local guy with a pro-charged Z just posted his track experiences over the last couple of weeks. First trip out was something heinous like 12.5@118 or something. The next week, he had some more experience under his belt, and the track was in a lot better condition and he ran a 10.4@138-ish.
Not gonna get any opinions that mean a whole lot until you get the two cars to run under controlled conditions, and that doesn't mean the monkeys at C&D or R&T running the cars for the first time at the track, making 3 runs, and posting "stats" on their "I can't drive" performances.
Note: A lot of those cars like the GT3 and Lotus Exige come with R compounds stock so that's really apples to oranges since the runflats are just plain awful(In comparison to Michelin Pilot Sport Cups). Even if you went to a BFG KD street tire you'd drop a few secs.
VERY true. People always tend to forget that vital piece of info when looking at 'The Ring' (or other tracks) times between various cars.
I mean yes it is what it is, that's the tire the car comes with but when one has tires that can last for 20k - 30k miles (Corvette) and the others have tires that only last 5k miles (Porsche, Lotus, Ferrari etc.) then it's not really a fair comparison.
This can apply to drag strip numbers as well.

Everyone who hates seeing thier car not be the best turns to the 'driver skill' BS.
If its the same monkey who cares. The same guy drove both cars in the mag I read makes it a dead issue. The C5z edged out the C6 z51. Who gives a ratz azz.
LOL, and some guy said "kills".
Take the roof off and drive down to the water with your girl.

Exactly, however, with the times that I've seen the C&D/R&T guys drive cars to (Racetrack or Dragstrip) I have to wonder how they're gotten their jobs. I supposed it's for the ability to put into words their desriptions of the cars more-so then their ability to drive said cars.
I agree that the tune on the c6 holds it back a bit. As with almost any drive by wire system, the factory is going to tune in some margin for error that they otherwise couldn't with a standard lingage throttle system.
