Common subject. The consensus is that given equal skilled drivers the C5 Z06 is slightly faster all around (turns and straights).
But the C6 program isn't finished yet, so you never know!
"Kills" is a bit of an exaggeration.
They are very close on all counts. A larger percentage of C5's have been modded too. The C6's are still largely stock.
I know it's not stock for stock, but here's a clip of a procharged(7psi) and meth injection 03 Z06 with MT ETs,headers,exhaust,etc.. against my 06 Z51 with mild cam , headers, and tune only on stock run flats....it's a hell of a run until the last few feet.....
Driver was a little more experienced than me and the track was hooking for slicks and dr's, but runflats are not the best track tires...lol.

well.. im sticking to the wheel theory, I mean the c5z06 has similiar gearing to the c6 z51 correct?..except for the fact that the wheels and tires on the c6 are huge and heavy. Lighter and wider wheels on the c5z.. plus the over rotational mass is closer to center... I bet if you put some c5z 18s on the rear of the c6 z51 it would help to close the performance gap.. but besides that the z is still more hardcore.

In the past a few C5 Z06 owners posted how their car felt a tad more sluggish and less nimble when they put heavier aftermarket wheels on.
Stock for Stock, the Z is slightly faster.. Once equal mods are done to both cars, The C6 passes it up..... The Intake and cam are the main advantage for the C5Z, but once that is the equaled out displacement takes over.
I think there may also be quite a difference between the first 2 years of the Z and the last 2, right....there's a bit of HP left on the table on the early ones, so more than likely the base C6 could take the early ones and the later C5Z could get the C6....
In my experience, it would have to be a better driver in the C6. I still believe a stock C5Z is quicker than even a tuned C6.....all else being equal. Traction and driver mod play that big role though.

I'm not so sure about that, most of the record setting (Ranger, J-Rod etc.) C5 Z06s have been 2002 cars. We know that the 385hp 2001 cars are slightly slower than the 405hp 2002-2004s but if anything I would think that the 2002/2003 cars might be ever so slightly stronger than the 2004s but honestly, I believe that all 2002-2004 Z06 likely perform the same and ALL Z06s are simply awesome machines.
