I'm going to give it try this week. I bought the kit several weeks ago but have been paranoid after reading so many threads about sliced condensors.

Phil, I'm glad you were successful with your install. But I'm still surprised that members insist they are immune to mistakes, mishaps, bad luck, whatever you want to call it, and don't use protection. The whole "I'm going to be careful" just doesn't cut it (no pun intended).

Glad to hear all went well, but please urge people to use protection even though you cheated fate.

ABSOLUTELY!

I had my protection ready to go. I was going to use a flexable material workboard to slide up between condenser and shroud. But again, I couldn't get underneath. I would have had to go and buy ramps, etc. Plus, everything was disconnected so I couldn't start up the car, to pull out onto said ramps.

My concern was also to find the placement of the template, getting it taped, and outlined. Once I did, I even started cutting, with the template still taped in place. Again, start at the bottom and work your way up the sides. Does two things. 1) gives the ability to get behind with your fingers to pull out, and 2) builds your confidence and rhythm.

Bottom line; use logic, go very slow, double and triple check as you go. Patricks tip (pull shroud out as you cut) really helped me. Once you get into it and understand it, common sense kicks in and you're over your fear. Call V.R. as many times as you need to. Rather be safe than sorry.

JUST DON'T GET ANXIOUS AND KEEP YOUR MIND ON PROECTION AND CUTTING. Hope this little bit helps.
