Here's an interesting case. I have a 10/30/2006 build date ...and one of each head. The passenger-side casting is a 243 and the driver's-side (viewable just underneath and behind the alternator) is a 799. Obviously, I'm hoping that the CNC-finished heads are determined to be the same part.
Not sure if this was posted here yet or not but part of the irony in all of this is that the Impala SS, Monte Carlo SS and Grand Prix GXP with the hot 5.3L V8 come with 243 heads LOL.
FYI - for what it's worth (not much) our 2005 Tahoe w/ a 5.3L has casting number 706.

And I believe the 05 Tahoe 5.3 has more hp than the 02 Tahoe, 25 more hp.
My casting number is 862. So maybe the 799 are refined heads for 07. Let keep an eye on the stock dyno number.

Yeah that's yet another 5.3L, they have a bunch of versions of that motor, iron truck block, all aluminum truck block, first year SSR all aluminum, the new all aluminum 303hp Impala/Monte/GP motor....
243's here. car was built on 10/23/2006
