So I installed a set of lg longtubes, offroad x pipe and corsa sports last week. I love the sound at WOT, but im not a big fan of the cackle against compression. I expect a little of this, but its similar to touching off a 12 guage at times. I have not had a tune yet, and hope to get that done this week. Check engine light did finally come on the second day. Will a tune help? maybe some type of resonator? Any advice on what i can do to keep the sound and get rid of the pop? Thanks for your time
I have Kooks LT with Corsa Sport and have the same characteristic. My tuner says that the computer dumps fuel so it doesn't surge by leaning out when shifting. Then some of the unburned fuel ignites in the exhaust and makes the popping. A tune can help a little for this. But I find when I use paddle shift it seems to be popping when the throttle is off. If you slowly back off pedal the popping will be minimal. Auto D or S it hardly shows. I love the sound but could do with out as much popping. I have heard a few other types but like my sound the best.
Thanks for the input. you know mine seems worse under 2500 rpm. I have an m-6, and its more like when my foots off the throttle and just coasting down to a stop. I even noticed this a little with the factory set up. It seems most any fuel injected vehicle I've been around with more open exhaust will have a little of this. But not this loud. Kinda reminds me of Uncle Bucks car Thanks again for the advice. Hope the tune helps, I'll have to do it anyway. If not I may have to try a touring set up.
