When you compare that gluttonous behavior to the other 97% of the worlds people, it's kinda gross right? My mom is just the opposite, only takes what she needs, shes a good person.

by the way if your interested, his cars.

-53 corvette convertible, red on black with red stitching. 04 z06 engine, power steering, the works. Featured in sports car market quarterly.

-67 Stingray coupe, white on blue with 4spd hurst and 450hp crate motor. Bought out of Oregon.

-83 Mako Shark c3 coupe red on red. 454

-06 Z06, silver on black/red.

Other cars, 03 cobra 427 roadster shelby certified. (they made 1000 in 2003, exactly like the 65's part for part) 05 Ford GT, 03 360 F1 Modena, 02 575 Maranello, 76' Daytona Spyder, 06 V8 Vantage, 03 Z8, 02 M Roadster, 04 sl55, One of those classic Jag E-type convertibles from back in the day, 03 Morgan Roadster, 02 545 Wagon M Sport. I think that's all? Hard to remember em all.

Pretty much all he drives day to day is the sl55 and Z06.
Normally I hate to call BS on someone for the cars they own as some people have a stash of very cool cars, you list is suspect....

A 53 vette, which is as rare as they come, only came in one color - white with red interior. No stitching, no black, nothing else. 300 were made, very hard to find or buy at this point. I know where one lives and it is driven so rarely as it is irreplaceable. I find it hard to imagine a car collector would take one of the most legendary icons of all time and ruin it by putting a Gen III motor and power steering, etc. That would be like taking a 60's Ferrari and putting a modern motor in it - most collectors would roll over in their grave.

83 corvette? really? Last time I checked, there is ONE 1983 corvette in existence and it lives at the NCM owned by GM. No 454, sorry as that was last offered in 1974. The 82 was the last year for the C3 stingray.

I grew up with a car collector for a father and with several neighbors who collect P and F cars with a passion. I have a very good idea how/what collectors do with their money and the cars they choose to modify. Perhaps your father is an outlier, but it is just sounds suspicious, esp on the 53 vette. I'd really like to see that magazine article.

This thread is about taking chances with reliability while on the mod binge......

I would think installing LT headers, cai, cat back, tune would be reliable as long as the person doing the work is a skilled professional. Your not messing around with the interworkings of the motor (internals) and I would think you would get a HP gain of about 50hp which in my opinion is'nt a high enough amount of power to stress the rest of the driveline.......I hear Synergy in the Bay Area is one of the best....But I am like the OP....I want more power, but I don't if it's going to cause headaches.......I'm sure this setup that I want for me has been done by the majority of the members in here and so far I have;nt heard any serious horror stories....There have been some about throwing codes because of a headers install which has caused me worries but it seems these incidents are isolated and few and far between...

Modding the car to perform better and look better is like making love to a beautiful woman. You know she is likely going to cost you more down the road and she does come with certain baggage - but the pleasure is well worth those small prices. At the end of the day (like lovemaking) the actual act of driving these cars may be the same, but the effect on the driver can be vastly different.
