Default runflat repair help

Anyone know the proper way to repair/patch a runflat tire? I want to make sure mine is done right. Picked up a nail. Left a hole you can slide a 6 penny nail in and out of.

Nothing different than any other tire. The runflats have a stiff side wall to support your car when you have a flat. Very hard to mount new tires with the stiff side walls. I did my new ones this week and it took forever to get them to seal.

Incorrect. It's a plug/patch combo. The hole can only be so big, and so close to the sidewall. Leave it up to the pros. GY says a runflat can be repaired once without losing it's speed rating if done properly. If they're under 12 months and 12K miles they're under warranty.

Pretty sure that the same as any other tire...

Correct, it is the same as any other tire and can be repaired with a "mushroom" patch/plug combo so long as its in the tread and not too close to the sidewall.

There is a specific repair kit from goodyear for the repair of runflats and as stated above they maintain the speed rating. The 6 penny hole is fine. If it was smaller it gets reamed out anyway to accept the plug or repair kit. I personally repair all my flats myself with a plug kit as a regular tire store would use on any tire and I have gone 180mph on a simple plug repair.

Get whatever makes you feel safer but if you dont go over 100mph I would do a simple plug. Mine lasted from the week I bought the car untill I got new tires on my 2005 z51.

I just took a nail in the rear tire. Did I understand correctly that this is under warranty? My car has 1200miles 1 month old. Who do I contact if it is under warranty? Does it have to be a GY repair or can someone like Americas Tire Company do it?

There should be a goodyear warranty card in with your owners manual packet. There is an 800 number to call for authorized repair facilities in your area.

I picked up a cement nail that went in at an angle, but dead center in the tread. Used a plug kit I bought from Walmart. It's held up for the last three months with no leaks and several dyno runs.
