Default Weird Computer Boot On Start

Just started happening yesterday - REAL WEIRD...

When I start the car, instead of the usual sweep of the gauges and "Corvette by Chevrolet" on the DIC - ALL the lights on the gauge panel light up bright, and I get Boot, Eprom version numbers on the DIC - then everything goes back to normal.

The only thing I notice not functioning is the interior light switch/dimmer - everything else appears to be OK.

I suspect that perhaps holding the dimmer switch while starting may display cause this behavior (to display the version info and test all the dash lights) and I may just have a bad dimmer switch.

Has anyone else seen this and/or can someone verify that starting and holding the dimmer switch causes this behavior? Otherwise, over to a friends shop on Monday to borrow his Tech2...

Regards,

Rick

I dont suspect the dimmer switch to be your issue. Has your car ever been tuned before?

I have this same issue every once in awhile since my tune with the headers. What it seems to be is a "soft reset" of the computer and instrument panel. At this point in time it has been doing it for at least 3 months and I have never had an issue other than an extra few seconds during startup for it to finish. It seems to me that the gauges are recalibrating themselves. My panel will light up fully then the gauges will move to 3 or 4 spots (same everytime) and pause then move to the next. It's like a calibration program the ECU is pushing to the panel.

I know this doesnt give you an answer but hopefully will ease any of your concern as I have experience the same. I also told my tuner whom never saw it before and we have since done 2 other tuning sessions on the dyno and it still does it occassionally.

I had this happen after painting my instrument bezel pods.

I found that the RESET button on the right pod was sticking in the 'down' position.

So... DID the sticky RESET button turn out to be the cause of this... It just started happening to me today for the first time on my 07 Coupe.. No Tune, but I do have a CoW booster installed so the ECM is not stock. Like to know why this is happening... THANKS>

If the ECM is changed it is a tune.
