Default Tunnel Plate Install Problems

Anyone have any problems installing an Elite Thermal Plate with LG Long Tubes?
I took mine to a local Corvette mechanic yesterday and he attempted but could not get the Eliteplate to fit with the LG's, said there was not enough clearance.

I have searched the site but have not seen any other posts with this problem on a C6.

Anyone that does have this combination installed, please respond and include any pics if possible.

I am interested in this thread as I have just received my 1/4" tunnel plate with the thermal blocker and my LG longtubes are on the way.

Thank you I was worried, must have been a lazy mechanic.

I can only ASSUME that he had an issue with the install because the headers are in the way. You might have to drop the headers?

I had the thermal abs installed when I had my LG longtubes installed. I looked under the car at a later time and noticed that the Corvette shop I went to didn't bother to read the instructions and installed the plate upside down...(shielding facing up instead of down). I live in Wyoming but had the work done in Denver, CO. I had my local mechanic install some Flowmasters for me a few days ago and flip the plate for me so the headers are not in the way! Found the Corvette only shop had not routed my 02 sensor wiring correctly and the connectors were resting on my high flow cats and the wire insulation was just pinched under some of the tunnel plate bolts instead of using retainers!! Needless to say they were mostly melted after 400-500 miles. So he fixed them, flipped the plate etc. No fitment issues. Everything works nice. My car still gets pretty hot on the outside by my right leg but I bet it would be almost unbearable without the thermal abs!!

I wish I had a helpful suggestion for you. I watched the techs at 21st Century Muscle Cars install mine....everything went like 'clockwork.'

I just noticed tht it is the E2 plate which I assume is the 3/8". Is there that little of clearance?
I am definitely thinking it is the mechanic as yesterday I hit it hard and heard an exhaust leak up front already.

May be time to go to an actual Corvette specialist here in Vegas somewhere.

I just had the 1/4" Elite tunnel plate with thermal abs along with LG longtube headers installed. There is plenty of clearance, no problem.

You should not have any problems at all.

I hope this thing works. My wife said "Is the heater on?" and it wasn't! Hells bells! We had the top down! Your plate is due here on Saturday and it will go on immediately. Cooking hotdogs in the console compartment and keeping coffee hot in the cup holder are "perks" that I did not expect when I bought the C6.

C5's had the same problem with heat coming from the tunnel. Seems like such a simple fix that you would think that Chevy would have addressed this problem on the C6.
