Bolt-on's are already in production. Halltech has CAI's already sorted out. I have already ported a few L92 intake manifolds, too. I've already got the TB porting covered as well.
Tuning will be great when available. I run HP Tuners Pro so I'll be looking for the new releases, too!
How about headers? Will the 05-07 fit or will it take a new header with the new style heads?
When the manufactures changed from OBD1 to OBD2 the crys where that the 2 would not be possible to tune for aftermarket....Remember??
exactly. I've been hearing for years "they'll never crack it, untunable....". And this is in several different car markets (ford 32V, LS1, LS6, LS7) When there is money to be made.... they always figure it out.
Chuck from Corvettes of Westchester told me at Bloomington Gold that the computers were the same thru 08. According to him they are the same computer as the 07. I'll let him correct me if I missed something.
The 05 C6 used an E40 ECM with a traditional VE table, since then they have used an E38. The calibrations in this ECM have no VE table, but a cut the operating range into 30 cells. The values in the cells are determined by 3rd order polynomial equations from memory. efilive has managed to pull a traditional ve table from the internal pids of the ECM and HPT cracked this ECM a year or more ago. So assuming the ECM is the E38, then its already possible to tune it pretty well already.
Thats not going to be the problem. I see the problem still being the lack of good information on cam selection. LG has some good results from the heads, but the current trend seems to be for a huge split like 10+* Katech have one with 40* split! Basically an off the shelf GM grind. Touching up the exhaust looks to be the go as well.
ls1tech has a 427 with L92 heads that pumped out 700fwhp from a sponsor. 660fwhp with the L76 manifold.
Looking at how well the LS2 takes to mods (bolt ons), especially headers with or without HF Cats, intakes, and tunes.....
Do you all think that with the extra .2 liters and better heads that the LS3 will respond with even greater range of power with the same bolt ons?
I am thinking that the potential and response of the LS3 with just a header back exhaust and intake with a dyno tune will be up to 10% more effective then even the LS2 motor is.
Thoughts?
Nevermind a cam, I think once you go cam on the LS3 it is really going to shine. I wouldn't doubt that a header back exhust, intake, cam, pulley and tune will put down near 475-500 WHP on the 2008 cars
