I was wandering what to expect for fuel consumption on my 06 a6 vert. I am only getting 12mpg. I have had it for awhile and dirve fairly conservatively. What should I expect for around town driving? Any Thoughts ??

That doesn't sound right; I get about 18 MPG around town. That's pretty similar to what I've heard from others on the forum.

If I do almost 100% cit driving I get 17.5mpg with the occasional spirited WOT accelerations.

If I do about 70/30 I get more like 20.5

12 is VERY low unless you are giving it a LOT of gas. When I first got my car I got about 12mpg on the first tank.

I'm getting about 17.5 mpg around town in my 06 A6 coupe. Not exactly stop-n-go traffic, but we do have traffic lights and/or stop signs about every 5-6 blocks.

After a limited amount of testing, I did discover that I get SLIGHTLY better gas mileage in "S" (without using the paddles) than in "D."

thats really poor. my ls7 car would get at worse 15mpg (mainly city) and that was with major WOT blasts (my first set or rear emt's only lasted 4500 miles ). something does not sound right, try a different gas station and/or brand

Check it the old fashion way. Not by using the DIC. Then see where you're at.

I recommend checking it while on the highway. Too many parameters during city driving.

City driving will eat up the gas, but I'm getting 18-20 around town. I'm not a leadfoot, though. I could easily bring that down, trust me.

Default Whew...

You must have something bad wrong. With a car that lite and an engine that effecient, you can't stand on the throttle enough to go through that much fuel. Like others said, check MPG the old fashioned way. Reset the trip odo after refueling...at the next fill up, divide the miles traveled by gallons used. I've had several vettes and various other performance vehicles. The only thing that ate that much fuel was a big block powered 3/4 ton truck.

Default Fuel Mileage 06 A6 Coupe

Highway crusing (about 70 MPH) I get 35 MPG (A/C mostly ON). Average mileage over 2,000 miles with a good mix of city and highway and more than a few WOT "sessions" is 25 MPG. I'd think there is a problem with such low mileage as you quote.

Default in metric mode??

Are you sure this is MPG? Did you reset to Metric?

I have 6 spd manual, with headers, x-pipes, modified air intake... i get 18-19 in town, got 28.6 from Phx to SanDiego and Back.. almost all flat... air on.. avg about 85 mph.

On a totally flat run at 75 in 6th, i get instantaneous of 32-33 mpg

05 MN6 Z51

Normally 16-17 City 27-29 Hwy

Worst I ever got was 14.5 city. But no hills and several 45 mph streatches.

2007 Coupe 3LT A-6. At 75 mph, 2 adults with baggage, air on, we get 27-29 mpg. Around town, some freeway, some stop and go, we
routinely get better than 20 and I occasionally like to feel the acceleration capability of the car. We do have CAI and Borla cat backs.

I would check with my dealer. Low mileage is just not right unless you really hit it every time you are leaving a stop light.

What is "around town" driving for you? If the traffic is heavy enough and you are spending a lot of time stopped and moving slowly the rest of the time, that would sink your mileage.

Are you using the paddles to hold it in lower gears, or letting it shift for itself?

Try driving at 5 or 6 mph and watching your instantaneous mileage on your DIC. It's an eye opener.
