hey guys, what you think is better on a stock c6 z51 mn6, superchip or diablo?
Neither. Custom dyno tune is the way to go.
I had the following done, all at the same time:
Kooks headers with hi flo cats and x pipe
Callaway Honker CAI
160 degree thermostat
Dyno Tune by Cartek.
Results 385 rwhp and 374 torque. Not only did the dyno tune calibrate everything for the mods BUT I also got rid of torque management and the 1-4 skip shift to boot. According to Dave at Cartek, if all he did was remove torque management on an otherwise stock car, there would have been a noticeable difference.

i just ordered the superchip, they are the best programmers, and it eliminates that 1-4 skip shift as well. he is going to program the settings tommorow or monday, it should have 35 hp, and 15rwhp.they work great on corvettes
I had a Predator for my 05 GTO and hated it. I saw NO gains no matter what we set the fuel to and the bone stock diablo tune lost 20rwhp compared to stock. Needless to say I was pissed.
I went with the custom tune for my vette at Cartek and am totally satisfied. There is NO replacement for a custom tune, handhelds are greatly limited in what they can change.......I'd rather use it as a code reader (check engine light) then as a tuning device.
What kind of software/hardware is needed for the custom dyno tunes? I know that those chips and off-the-shelf reflashes and whatever are worth very little if any. There is no substitute for a professional custom tune done on a dynamometer.

There is a big difference between a custom dyno tune and a hand held programmer. With custom tuning you have control over more parameters and are able to fine tune the air fuel and timing to your car to achieve better results.

A laptop computer, and HP tuners, EFI live or LS2 edit. That is all that is required. We also use a ETAS wide band O2 sensor, it's fast and very accurate, multiple channel data acquisition, and a dyno jet dyno. The more accurate information the better the tune, but we can't forget the most important piece, the tuner. Anyone can buy the tools, but knowing how to use it and the experience is what will make the biggest difference.
.....and if you don't have the Luxury of a tuner near by,A diablo will suffice for the time being.I gained 11.2,as you already know, with the Diablo tune.I have NO KNOWLEDGE on how to improve the diablo tune myself,so for now 11.2 is good enough for me!I can't speak of the superchips because I never had one.If you get it and don't like it,I'm sure you'll be able to sell it on the forum. That's where I got my DIABLO.Get one, play with it and enjoy it,before you get stuck in everybody's opinion on what you should get,and all you end up getting is confused!!!
