I’ve heard that the 2005 C6 rears are the weak link in the drive train. The fix is to convert a C5 rear. Does anyone have experience with this problem?

The center section of the C5 rear diff has more metal by virtue of the fact that it is where the mount attaches to the diff case. This is half the story; the C6 rear is supported by two arms that prevent the case from being able to rock left to right as the torque from the driveline twists. The pinion wants to walk up the ring and the two halves of the case are torn in a wishbone fasion. All the hardened internals in the world will not keep a weak case from cracking.
Fixes for the problem can be any or a combo of:
A side mount that absorbs the twisting motion.
A stronger case (material or thickness)
Additional metal at the fatigue points
A center mount that rocks back and forth

OK...I've been looking at this photo for a little while now and I still fail to see the problem....looks fine to me.

Does the DTE Brace solve this problem for the C6 Diff Housing? I'm planning on purchasing one when I do my 410 Gear upgrade in Feb.........Thanks
