I drove an 06' & thought it was nice. It felt like a high 12 sec car to me. I thought the shift delay in Sport/Tap Mode was a bit too long. They said the 08' is alot quicker and now you can get the 2.73 ratio instead of only the 2.56 plus it has more power. That's the only Tap Shift I would ever get. It would have to be the Z51 ofcourse for me.
I love the manual, but i'm sure I would love that as well.

Drive both.. I use the paddles all of the time. If you only use it once in a while, you will never learn how to use it effectively and properly. (Kind of like you learned how to use a manual. you had no option other than to master it.. If you use the paddle ALL OF THE TIME, you will master it.)

I like the paddle shift, but as stated they tend to react slowly. This has most to do with the TCU programming. That said, the upshift is normally pretty good, the downshifts typically slowest.
