If you have a blower installed what is the required maintenance on the unit? Are some models better then others? I'm looking for a unit that I can have installed and close the hood and forget about it!

Get a Maggie from LPE or Callaway. Then you have what you asked for.

Sounds Like an ECS Paxton could work for you, no need to change oil in the head unit so maintenance is the same as a stock car. Possibly rear tires though. Feel free to call or pm if you have any questions.

With Magnachargers, there's no special maintenance required. Just keep an eye on serpentine belt as you would with a stock Corvette. Rear drive belt life is rated at 100,000 mile, minimum.
The Magnacharger's intercooler is liquid-to-air and a 50%-50% Dex-Cool/water solution is used. Dex-Cool is the GM-approved antifreeze. The fluid level should be checked at every engine oil change (there's a small reservoir tank over the battery), but there should be no fluid loss. This coolant temperature is much lower than typical cooling system temperatures.
Callaway provides a 100,000 mile/5 year warranty on new SuperCharged Corvettes using this system.

The problem is that you can never just "set it and forget it", because everyone wants you to open the hood to see the blower . I also have to admit that I open the hood just to look at it every now and then Both the maggie and the ecs kits are very nice, low maintenance kits. I, personally, have the ECS kit and couldn't be happier with the performance and quality! Give ECS a call or shoot me a pm with any questions I can answer.
