Default Hi speed stability....

Guys/gals, I'm looking for feedback on how your car handles basically stock. My old 04Z seemed to get more stable at high speeds (and improved with lowering); the faster it went, the more stable it felt.

This car is different (07 Coupe Z51.) At higher speeds the rear end feels like it's walking around on me, and makes me rather uncomfortable. It's like too much oversteer. Dealer again says "normal" and to upgrade the rear spoiler. I'm not buying that. Also says alignment is good (had them check most obvious first.)

Ideas?

can we assume high speed means above 150?

I can say that at the 1/4 mile - car seems very stable, but that was only to about 130 mph. I did have the car up to about 145 another time and it seemed stable to me, but I also dont really have anything to compare it to.

I've had my C6 up to 178 (HUD), and the car was rock solid. F55 with Z51 sways. Of course, this was on a closed track ( ), that I rented for just this purpose.

Good question, and I figured I'd leave it vague initially so I don't have to hear about irresponsibility, etc....

My experience is really 90+, and ~120 or so is about when I get scared and back out of it. My Z06 was MUCH better at this, and improved with speed.

My car is a Z51 (shoulda mentioned that earlier.)

Not mentioning speed attained, but no stability problems as fast as I was willing to go.

I also lowered the car (as I did with my Z06), but maintained the factory rake front to rear. It seemed to improve, but still doesn't feel safe to me.

If you look at it from a aerodynamic standpoint, the 04Z versus say 07 Z51. The 07 will have more lift do to rear glass, but with lower drag coefficient.

I've had both at speed and will agree the 04Z seems more planted, but my 07 Z51 did not concern me at 170+. To me road conditions are a large variable.

Alignment by a reputable shop. The dealer is going by GM specs and they have a huge + or - range.

It is either that or you lowered your car to much or the rake is not right.

130 MPH and very solid. That was with a "professional driver on a closed course".

I agree it could be the alignment, and the dealer conveniently didn't print off the actual specs when it was on the machine. UGH!

It's not lowered improperly or too much. Roughly 7/8" drop over stock. My Z was lowered more than this....

Yep, checked, and is at factory spec. Actually played with this a little, but didn't seem to make a difference regardless of where I put it.

Any input on the GM PP "race" spoiler? I still think there's something else going on here......alignment or so....based on other's feedback. I'm trying to rule out the "personal preference" factor as much as possible.

I have been in all 4 combos at speed the best at 180mph is:

The stock C6 100% better feel at speed then the C5 Z06
(Lowering the rear only did not efect the stability.)

But my friends lowerd C6 does not feel safe feels light like the C5 IMO.

All the people at the track that have been in my car said 170 felt a lot slower they had to look at the spedo to belive we were going that fast, said it felt like we were doing 130-140 not 170

My 07 Z51 felt very good up to 160, then alittle light in the rear. The only thing I did was lower the screws all the way.
I hit 140 once a week and fells very stable.

After I lowered the screws on mine, I remove the front lower lip that drags on everything, could this be part of the reasone for the lightness at 160+?
