I love the steering on my '08 Vette. I compared the '07 remaining inventory (at a lower price) v. the '08 - the steering is considerably better. I'm coming from a BMW and my two cents is that BMW has nothing on the new '08 steering or otherwise. The '08 Vette is world class.

Thanks for the info!!...in your caste system, where do the '05, '06 and '07 C6's fit in? say...City, State, National class?

I drove an 08 recently, it actually felt a little more boosted and a tad lighter to me under 45 mph but was more precise feeling on center. I would think it would drop in, but will wait for gene to give me the final detials.
$585 is a good price if it's just a swap.

I may be joining him except for the LS3.

Any info on T6060 trans?

That's a very good price: $583.50 + shipping. I think a lot of us are waiting for someone to report on the installation. I know I am!

I set up an appt to drive an '08 tomorrow afternoon. I'll give you my impressions. I'll probably swap between my 05 and the 08 a few times to get a good feel.

But if it's only $583, that isn't bad, but it's probably well over $1000 in labor.

The difference I paid for my 08 vs. my 07 is getting less and less!

I paid $9685 difference and have a bigger engine, better heads, more cam, better intake, gears (2.73 vs. 2.56), exhaust (NPP), wheels(chrome),quicker paddle shifter, this new steering rack and and a few more items all with installallation included.

this is the only logical way to do it. dont get caught up on the 580 price tag. there is a lot involved and most likely not woth it in the end

Gene,

Can you confirm that this swap will work?

I am on the fence with this mod, but want to see it work first.

No, I'm sorry, I can't confirm as to whether or not it will or will not work.

As in OJ's glove? Did you try it yourself?

So it does fit but not worth it in the end???? I got a quote from my local Vette mechanic of $400-$500 for the swap.

What else is required besides the rack?

Spending 9000.00 for refinements is not logical.

I was told by a local vette mechanic that the new rack will indeed work and it's not involved with changing. Not something I'd do myself but should be interesting because sooner or later someone will give it try....

I don't remember well but I think I read somewhere that the steering for the 08's included more than just the rack. The steering column shaft and other parts may be larger too.

You did a great job on the first evals for the Koni FSD shocks. Can't wait for your impression on the '08 steering transplant if you should decide to go that way.
