Hi -- I'm a first time Vette owner, recently purchased a new 2007 Coupe, 2LT, Paddle Shift, Selective Ride Control, Chrome Wheels, Monterey Red, Clear Roof. Being 63 yrs old, I've had several of the 60's muscle cars, back in the day, but none of them compare to this Vette. Simply stated, I LOVE IT. -- Based on info from here, I plan to install Z51 sway bars, and would like to upgrade to a auto dimming inside rear view mirror w/compass.
I'm not sure that I grasp what's been said about the mirror installation ---- Will it work in my 2007 ? & Is it as simple as, un-plug the old one, and plug in the new one ? Have I overlooked anything ?.
Was surprised to see this thread show up again. Here is the deal as I see it. You can get the rear view mirror with the compass and do a plug and play in an 1lt corvette 2007 in my case. The only difference is that when you go into reverse, the mirror will not auto undim as the 1lt wiring does not have the backup wire. If you get a used mirror from a wreck with onstar. It will work like above and the little onstar buttons will do nothing. Gene can help you order a mirror for less than 3 bills. In addition on the used front, the 2005 mirrors do not have the air bag lights built in for 2006 and 2007 cars. Hope this is a good summary.
Thanks
I did it on my 2006. Turn the old mirror a 1/4 turn, unplug the wires and reverse the process to install the new one.
I just replace mi standard mirror on my C6 with a Compass one and it really works. As you said 1/4 turn on the base, unplug, plug in the compass mirror, 1/4 turn, start the car and here we go...it's working. 3 minute procedure.
