I really hate this electronic garbage that can hinder the way that a perfectly strong car can run...
just recalibrate to tires and if its fine put the sensors in the canister

Corvettes have had tire pressure sensors for some 15 years now, but only for informational purposes because it's such a good idea for low profile tires with stiff sidewalls.

Several years ago when Phord Explorers started crashing and killing soccer moms and their kids, the NHTSA and DOT got Congress to pass a law that would require ALL 4 wheel vehicles less than 10,000 pounds to have tire pressure sensors and a TPMS starting with the 2008 model year. Part of the law was that they had to start doing it in increasing percentages of their new vehicles during the several model years prior to that. Because the Corvette already had sensors, GM upgraded the TPMS that's been in the Corvette to meet the standards of the law so the Corvette was part of the GM fleet that met the requirement.

Prior to the C6 the TPMS was on the cars just because it's a good idea, not because it was required. On the C5 Z06, I don't believe it came with tire sensors so the TPMS was not activated in those models. If you wanted to put sensors in the tires you could get your dealer to use his Tech II to activate the TPMS.

However, now that the system is mandatory by federal law, I don't believe there is any way to disable the system - unless you go to a track only car and take out all the computers that run the TPMS.

So, like all other new cars, we're stuck with this system.
