Default ammeter question

Posted some weeks ago about car losing ALL electric power 4-5 times, eventually correcting itself,I believe I've found culprit, crimp on connector to ground wire at starter. Now I've got gauge showing discharge,SLOWLY,WHEN ANY ACC.IS ON. Alternator checked, off car,OK. lights brighten when revs are up,and battery is at full strength.Pulled gauge cluster, connector is clean and tight.Any thoughts are appreciated......JC

The OEM gauge is a voltmeter. Did you install an aftermarket ammeter? If not, what are the readings?

Also, what accessories, etc are on when acc is on? Has battery been checked?

After all of the microprocessors shut down and the BCM goes into the sleep mode, on the C6, the parasitic current drain on the battery should be about 12-15 ma.

I would agree with this on the current models when not on via the acc. However, early71 has a 71 vette roadster and is referring to discharge with acc on.
