I haven't done it yet, but here is what I decided to do when I do it. Put an add a circuit into the original fuse slot. Then run a wire into the negative slot on top of it and route that and the red positive wire (with an inline fuse for safety) to a switch and you're done. Here's a pic of the add a circuit which is sold at most auto parts stores.
i would like to install a wired on off switch

Just buy a mild2wild switch from "PipeDreams". I got one, I think it was about $20.00. Installed in a few minutes, nice, neat and everyone loves the way I can turn my "Mild" sounding pipes to "Wild" within a second. Way cool.
