Default Traction control/competitive mode

My wife conned her way into picking up my new 08 Z51 auto/paddle Vette while I was out of town. I had plans with the service dept. to put the car on a lift and go over it and ask questions at delivery. I know you can push the button and turn off the traction control. I held it down and it turned off the traction control and active handling?. I pushed it again and it went into competitive mode. I know what happens when the traction control is off, but what happens in the other modes?

It explains it in the manual, but from what I remember. Traction controll off leaves the traction control off but leaves active handling intact. Comp mode does the same as that, but I think it leaves a lot more tolerance in the yaw control, so you can slide around more without it trying to straighten you out. Both off, well then everything is off.

A little advice. For street use leave AH on. No reason to ever take it off. Makes a HUGE difference with car control.

If I understand correctly, if you turn off traction control, active handling is still on. If you are in competition mode, active handling is still on, just less of it, correct?

Yes. You have to hold down the button to turn it off.

i tried my car with these modes on and off
when i tuned my car with the cam i rolled 40K/h and accelerated
the car went crazy but the actinve handing CUSION came on
and it holded the car
i think even when the traction on if the car start playing the computer will hold it
Comptitive drive
i noiced that when i drive in a race ,, Rolling 80Km/h
and the car start drifting when i change the gear from 2 to 3 ( Rpm 6500)
instead of dropping the rpm to 5000 or 5100
it goes down to 4500 to hold the car and let it stop drifting
this is what happened to me from my experience

some one can correct me if i am wrong

but at all ,,, in the C6
you cant Stop the traction of the car !!!
even when i turn it off in all the wife ,, after the drifting
i always have a caption about the traction and Service break and traction
this is another thing i noticed

Is comp mode also a standard option in the 05 C6? or does it only come with 1sb package/ z51?

I have the 1SB option but I believe TC/AH/Comp Mode is a standard feature with all C6 Corvettes. If you have a 'base' 05 it would be simple to find out.

You can completely turn off all of the active handling and traction control by holding down the button continuosly for more than 5 seconds. The display will show AH TC OFF. Be careful if you do this as there will be no electronics to save you if you make a mistake.
