well taken , yes they do have criteria, my 06 is New with only a few miles, I use it as a w/e car or to take the wife out for dinner. I guess justifing the difference is not the issue? Callaway has it's name and the tag to go with it. thanks for your feedback. lets see what others have to say about it.

It has been shown over time, Callaway Corvettes hold more value than a DIY, or in most cases, other "tuner" Vettes.

Even with the past "halo" Corvette models like most of the ZR1 and GS specials, the Callaway has retained more value over time.

More info on past Callaways and some current cars can be read at the www.callawayownersgroup.com website.

I hope this helps with your decision.

There are really two different products being discussed here. It may be confusing the price/value issue.
I'd like to try to clarify.

The two "products" are:
1) Magnacharger and Hood only
2) Callaway Corvette package

If you just want the Magnacharger and a hood, there are numerous installers that can do a great job for you. (Choose your hood wisely as there are quality variations among manufacturers.) Callaway supplies the C5 and C6 Magnachargers to all of them, worldwide. During 2006, Callaway and Magnuson Products entered an arrangement whereby Callaway became responsible for product development and sales of all C5 and C6 Magnachargers.

There is a list of Callaway Magnacharger authorized dealers on the Callaway Cars website: http://www.callawaycars.com/callaway...zedDealers.htm

Here's product and pricing info on the Magnacharger Kits. Hoods are priced in the $900 - $1400 range, primered.

The Callaway Corvette package includes additional equipment, authenticity documentation, and is installed exclusively at Callaway's California and Connecticut facilities. In addition to the Magnacharger and Callaway C16 hood, the $16,995 package includes body-color injector covers with Callaway logos, the Callaway-designed high-flow exhaust system, Callaway UHC-8 ignition wire set, Callaway door sill panels and embroidered floor mats, and interior and exterior badging including the dash plaque with the engraved VIN. Optional equipment includes the polished supercharger housing, Callaway/Eibach suspension, Callaway Le Mans brakes, Callaway/Dymag C-Mg Wheels, Severe-duty clutch, Callaway Short-Throw Shifter, Deutschleder Interior Group, and Callaway SportSeats. In addition to the certificate and other documentation that comes with the Callaway Corvette, we maintain a file on each Callaway in our computer database, going back to 1987 Twin Turbos. Every detail about the car is kept there, including notes on every conversation we have with the owner since delivery. This helps us protect against clones. We can tell whether a car is a "genuine" Callaway or not.

2007 and 2008 Callaway Corvettes also come equipped with a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty on the Callaway powertrain content. 2005 and 2006 models have the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty, matching the GM factory warranty term.

Here's the 2007 Callaway Corvette info. We're finalizing the 2008 spec now.

Congratulations on your decision. I'm looking forward to hearing how it works out.

I met Reeves and Pete at the L.A. Auto show a couple of weeks ago - very nice guys. I'll probably be heading down to their shop in December to take a closer look at the C16 and to see if I can convince my Ferrari 575/Ford GT/Aston Martin Vantage owning business partner to buy one.

I have no direct experience with Callaway but their reputation speaks for itself. There are undoubtedly other fine tuner shops but for my money, there are only a small handful of Corvette tuner shops (in the Country) I would feel totally confident to have work on my car...Lingenfelter, 21st Century Muscle Cars/Lingenfelter, Doug Rippie Motorsports, Katech, LGM and Callaway. I'd throw Pratt & Miller into the mix as well.

I don't like Callaway's exterior creations (or the exhaust they use) but what the do under the hood is by all reports...simply first rate. IMO it always pays to go with the best.

Default Callaway is tops

In May of 2006 our local Corvette club arranged for a tour of the Old Lyme facility here in CT. I have the good fortune of living 10 miles from there! Chief Engineer Mike Zoner gave us the tour and it was very informative. They do top notch work, impressive custom setups, and as with most things in life, "you get what you pay for". They have a CNC machine that does LS1/LS2 head porting to their own design created on a CAD system and tested on their flow bench. Just be sure you know the total scope of what they promise to do before you assume that they are $8k more for the "same job". It may not really be the same.

in this arena GENERALLY SPEAKING, quality does not really cost more...it lasts longer. if no one wanted what they offer at their prices the cost would be less. you are paying for alot more that the parts here.

I drove their LS2 supercharged car today...all I can say is WOW. This Car is GREAT. It also had their suspension kit. VERY fast, VERY smooth. And Reves and Peter are very classy people. I was talking with them today at a car get together and Peter handed me the keys and said to take it for a ride (with my son). I think that ride is going to cost me some serious money

I guess everyone can see everything one way, however "quality does last longer" in anything we purchase!
