I have an '06 A6 w/ LP headers & cats, Vararam, 160 thermo, and CoW tune. I've only run it once, pulled a 12.64 @ 113.57 w/ a 1.989 60 ft. time. I believe my results are very typical for a bolt-on LS2. Might get slightly better results with an underdrive pulley, even better with a FAST intake.
But 11.51!!!??? 118 MPH!!!??? IMHO, those numbers are not typical at all for a bolt-on C6.
Maybe you need a better tune....No offense I ran 12.522@115.26 mph w/a 2.057 60 ft. time . And Glenn ran 12.4`s at 115`s with a new tune, i think you need a better tune
And that is a problem: if you wait until the next improvement, you will miss out on all the fun of the C6. I had an '04 C5, resisted the C6 as long as I could, and then picked up a late year '05 C6...and I haven't looked back since! Best thing I ever did from a vehicle standpoint.
The LS2-equipped C6 is great: I can't imagine what the LS3-equipped C6 is like! Don't wait...

In defense, Hitman99 did say he only ran it once. Practice (ie: more runs) does make it perfect! I ran a 12.54 @114.01 (1.995) essentially stock with Corsa Sport and self tuned only with TM upshifts disabled. But I think with the same stuff and an '08 LS3 I would be easily turning a 12.24. No question, I am finally convinced the LS3 is a LOT quicker. Witness 8850's '08 A6 with only headers (2.73 with stock exhaust), self tune and CAI with a 11.80@118.62!!
my 06 a6 ran a best of 12.49@113.5(1.9x-60ft) in vegas at +2500ft da.

All i am saying is don`t discard the LS2 due to some 1/4 times, I agree that the LS3 is coming on strong and thats great Its running the same numbers(1/4) stock as my LS2 with headers and a tune so that tells me right their that the LS3`s are strong . But don`t chalk up a old tune to a new tune either for the LS2`s And as Dennis said "Look at the list" Because LS1LT1 is still the fastest stock LS2 out their

I guess what im trying to figure out is if its worth the 40k price tag of an 08 vs the 33k price tag of a nice used one. I could add a magnason blower for the difference.
But this will be a huge investment for me and i plan to keep the car a while. Just trying to weigh my options.
It is worth the difference. The new engine is a modders dream. I want one so bad........

I hear you loud and clear! After all, I am still running my LS2 and dont plan on getting a LS3 unless the C7 is not to my liking...then I would buy the last year of the C6.
PS-what brand headers are you and Glen running? Been thinking of getting some Kooks or LG's, but wondering if the high price/install for them is worth the .2 seconds gain.

True.
And oddly enough, my car isn't only the quickest stock LS2 out there, somehow it is still the quickest stock 'non Z06' C6 as well. (Yes '04_Z06_CE' I just had to get that in there.)
But as we all know that will VERY likely change in the coming days/weeks, these LS3s are serious machines.
