Just curious -- is there a spot in your daily commute where being able to go 217mph would benefit you rather than being limited to 186mph?

Unless your commute involves a pretty high banked track, I can't imagine this is really a problem

Just curious. When the guy on the bicycle tries to cross the street, knowing he has plenty of room even if cars are blowing down the road at 80, what do you do at 186?

Stop doing this on the street. The person you kill will be someone else.

That's even better...now I don't have to hand calculate everything. Thanks!!

PS The ZR1 5th gear is incorrect, it's suppose to be .75.

Almost the length of a drag strip and even at the half way mark (550 FT) you're still going over 120 MPH.

I'm not going to preach but this is porbably one of the most sensible statements ever posted on this forum. Do what you want just take this into consideration....seriously. Stop, sit down, and actually think about the reality of this.

Ok, you may continue.

Guys, slow down with the preaching. Who ever suggested that anyone would attempt maximum speed on public roads? I am a former municipal prosecutor and certainly know that this would be a foolish act on the public roads. I was merely asking a question about gear ratios and theoretical, gear limited, top speeds. As for the location of my speeding, I happen to have a direct tie in to someone that owns a major racing venue and, as such, I have the ability to go out on a private test day and have some fun if I was so inclined. Thanks for the info. I had heard that the swap to 4:10s would severely limit top end but, from what has been posted, the rumor is incorrect. 177, 186, 194 mph, what's the real difference? I think I'll just go order my gears now.

I have a little more HP than you, The 4.10's are great for street.

FYI, I got into the "legal" speed events, etc. mostly 60-130. I have found that my set-up to get to 130 from 3rd at 58mph with one shift at 4th has been elusive. I have had to shift to 5th which with my shifting slows me down .

I got the 30x345s with 27.17 dia. upped my rev limiter to 6800 and bumped it in 4th at 128.5 mph.... I'm at 430hp now with a flat hp curve at 5700 on up. when I add the ported FAST and 97 octane and tune for it, the extra HP "should" get me there.

Ummm, I hate to say anything, but you changed the wrong gear...now 5th and 6th are wrong. Sorry, I probably should have left well enough alone the first time.

Geez! My fault. Read it wrong. So 5th is .75 and 6th is .50 -- right?
