That is the first FAST manifold wearing LS2 that I saw peak higher than 6300.

Haha...Don't tempt me. If/when I do it. I'm doing it right, like you. You're advice really set me straight, thanks.

I don't know about 540 but it's definately quick. Yes, as far as I know the pistons were notched.

Congrats Frank and good job Cartek.
Thanks Marc. It really is completely streetable. It does not posess any of the annoying characteristics of big power NA motors. Although I guess 485rwhp isn't all that big:o From the brief drive I did have with it, it's definatley a whole lot of fun. I can't wait for more.

You know better than most the amazing things Cartek is doing in house. Corresponding with Dave and Mark my only requirements were a fast car, with excellent drivability, and reliability. They came thru with an awesome solid set up. Their packages are sick.

From 4200 to 6800 the car must be a beast.

What does that mean? Notched pistons
Valve reliefs cut into the piston. If you mill the heads or use a thinner than stock head gasket, piston to valve distance can become an issue with larger than stock duration cams. This ensures the valves does not open into the piston at top dead center.

It's likely quite the beast even below 4200 as well...while this package doesn't make crazy extra torque down low it is still way more than stock (you'll certainly feel it) and of course those 4.10s certainly help matters as well Though even with 3.73s or 3.42s this set up will still scream.

I was told by a reputable forum member here that the efficiency limit of the original Vararam with the smaller filter and opening is 480rwhp max. I understand the new Vararam can handle a lot more with the bigger filter and opening, thus more Hp at the end of the run..So I bet Frankie's real world numbers with the new Vararam based on the 6500 rpm peak at the end of the run, is approximately 540rwhp !

The car has amazing street manners. I was stuck in a bit of stop and go on the way home. With the 4.10s and Cartek's little tricks this car is no problem in traffic, and once a lane opens up....see ya!

is it spring yet?
