Any mods? Mine does this occasionally and I just blip the throttle. I've also noticed that when the battery gets pretty beat it shows up. Could be a real problem, or just something associated with mods. My cam and underdrive caused mine. I jsut ignore it. If you are stock I'd have the alt checked.
When it pops up, just hit Reset on the dash...if you've gotten it scanned to see what it is. I still haven't put my Temp. Sensor back since I did the new set up and it throws a Service Electrical System often. We did a scan the other day, and the Temp Sensor was on there a whole bunch of times. That and a Radio Communication code. If you've gotten it scanned, press Reset...if you haven't, get it scanned and then press Reset.
If this is an '07,and it comes back after hitting reset, it could be caused by hitting the rev limiter in 'S' mode(paddles), and the alternator has been damaged. Need a new alternator. I think this has been posted in the past, you could try and search the forum for other things.

About 3 months after having my LPE 403 engine installed (along with some other mods) I started periodically getting the SES message. Generally, I can drive for days without seeing it while some days it pops up consistently. I'm not throwing any codes and everything is working fine. I thought it might be a gremlin related to the modifications/tune...perhaps something was shutoff so when the ECM/PCM sent out a test it failed to receive an answer...not completing the full test circuit. Lingenfelter, however, did not feel that it was related to their work.
Here is some information I've found:
SERVICE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: This message displays if an electrical problem has occurred within the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
SES Light 101
Many systems are monitored by the Electronic Control Module (ECM). The SES light will come on when a monitored system moves out of the preset range, or when an electrical short/open in a monitored circuit occurs. There are also several "common" reasons that trigger the SES.
What you need to do is pull the trouble codes (DTC's) to determine which system(s) is causing your SES to display.
The Basics:
The SES light informs a problem has occurred requiring service; displays codes stored by the ECM to help diagnose the problem; and indicated "Open/Closed" loop operation.
The SES light comes on with the ENG ON. Once the ENG is started, SES turns OFF. If SES stays ON, a problem is detected. If the problem "goes away" SES will go OFF after ten seconds, but a CODE will store in the ECM.
SES while the ENG is running requires a Diagnostic Service Check, which exposes malfunctions otherwise not detected if other DIA's are performed prematurely. Intermittent CODES may or may not reset.
Again, on my car I don't see the SES message regularly...I go for days without seeing it and then it pops up one day. I am not throwing any codes nor can I find anything wrong with the cars electronics…everything appears to be running 5 x 5. The SES message is most certainly PCM related but in the absence of any adverse affect on how the car operates and as the message occurs infrequently, I ignore it.
You need a new alternator. Check the battery voltage on the DIC. When it drops below 11 the message will show up. There is a TSB for this and the dealer should now about it. If not, let them know.
