If truely want a "cold" air intake get a vararam, it draws cool air from in front of the radiator, the K&N is the that filter inside the engine compartment only breath in heated air, which does not help in the performance of the engine, as always heat kills.

I am interested in a CAI, and have read with much intrest the different opinions. I am leaning toward a Vararam, but wondered if anyone has a Vortex Rammer and what they think of it? Thanks
if cold air is the goal here why can't you just cut a hole in the radiator shroud next to the filter seems other than the scoop part of it that's all a Vararam does. flame suit on.

You don't get it. If you don't spend money, how can it work.

no kidding, there is a lot i don't get. maybe i'm missing something here but looking at my 08 it sure looks to me like you could cut a section of the radiator shroud the exact size of the filter inlet and if it really bothered you you could also seal the housing to the shroud. i mean GM spent a lot of money to keep the intake noise down as well as flow enough air for 436 hp how much is really there with a $400 intake? just the cold air alone would probably make the biggest difference in performance unless you had more mods.

looks like it's already been done from stock inlet w/cold air then to after market filter w/cold air not bad.
