I think you mean he has the quickest time for an LS3 but his LS2 time, though very strong, was not the best for the LS2s either.
In time the LS3 might catch the top C5 Z06 track times but thus far it has not.
Guys I love you cas your my Vette brothers....04 coupe owner here..
Ive been going to the track every weekend for years and...
The typical stock C6 is running 13.1 at 110 mph
The typical stock 04 Z06 is running 12.6 at 114 mph
Yes there have been a few stock C6's that CLAIMED 12.5 or so at 114
Yes there have been a few stock 04 Z06's that CLAIMED 11.9 or so at 117
The REALITY is that at a track a Z06 will normally be 5 tenths and 4 mph quicker than a C6....
The Z06 is over 100 pounds lighter and also has more agressive gearing from the m12....
It will also typicaly dyno 10 rwhp higher than the C6
It also dosent have tourqe managment killing the power between shifts.
So give the Z06 a tenth for weight
Another tenth for gearing
Another tenth for the typical 10 rwhp on the dyno
And then 2 more tenths for the C6's torque managment
Thats why the C5 Z06 is faster guys (NORMALLY) 90% of the time....
If GM gets the tourque managment right with a stronger trannie in the 2006 C6...
It will be much closer to a drivers race.
Looks to me like this OPINION is dead on ... for the LS2 C6's.
Its the new LS3 that may move the bar closer to the C5Z's performance level.
Who holds the current stock LS3 car record ? Whats the timeslip show ?
Addendum:
Maybe I can answer my own question. Found a thread 11/16 in this section of forum by Z51 6spd (first time at track).
He shows top stock LS3 at 12.4 /118. Now, granted with Elect. pump, LT's, and tuning ... the car can hit 11.7 @ 118-119. But, looks like the stock car needs some boost from bolt-ons to top the stock C5Z.

Yes, apparently 'Z51 6spd' and 'jschindler' are the two quickest stock LS3 owners as of right now, having both run 12.4s.
Not sure if you're seeing it or not but in case you weren't sure there is a running list in this very thread that shows the official times (posted once they've submitted their time slips/met the criteria) that these cars have run.

If someone cares to take a guess at how much faster my time would have been with a 1.9 or better 60' time, I think that would tell people a lot about what the LS3 is capable of. I've seen 1.9 and better on runflats, so I know it can be one. In my case, I cannot blame it on TM either, I mostly blame it on me and my ability to quit roasting the back tires at the line.

Sure, I'll take a stab & guess. I figure with the LS3 having 40+ rwhp over the LS2, you got more problems getting traction off the line then a LS2 given the same runflats on both.
I know 8850 is a top notch LS3 drag driver and his best '60 so far is a 1.915 doing a 11.80 @118.62. That's with NPP, 2.73, Headers, CAI, stat, and his home brew super duper tunes. Add back .15 for CAI and .35 for headers and .25 for tunes and you are at 12.55 or so for stock. Which is about exactly (12.565 @ 112.98) what he did for his off the showroom floor stock time. Looking at it that way and seeing as how you dont drag race much, I'd say that's a damn good time for a LS3 that you did. Congrats! I am still of the opinion that a stock LS3 is about 1/10 faster than a LS2 and if you add the NPP and a 2.73 (which are not available on the LS2), you got another 1/10 as well.

Sorry man you have me confused with someone else. I never ran my car bone stock. I wish I would have. I only ran my car at the track one night and I went 11.70 with just LGs, elctric pump, tune, and vette air.
