Oh yeah? 5000 miles, well how do we know it's truly bone stock? Maybe this previous lady owner put a cheater cam in there, maybe she ported the intake and throttle body and had the stock exhaust manifolds Extrude Honed and the cats gutted!
JUST KIDDING of course, we know the car is stock...for now.

Also, the addition of a catback, while not adding much power, will take you out of the "bone stock" category. So if you are going for a record in there you'll want to wait.

I disagree. A used car can NEVER be considered bone stock because it wasn't picked up from the dealer by the same person.

But wait, how do we know that the truck driver delivering the car from Bowling Green or the service manager or the parking lot jockey didn't mess with or modify the car somehow before the new owner picked it up?!
So maybe none of them are stock, NONE OF THEM I SAY!

Had the 08 for 5 months now and the first thing I did was pull the NPP fuse. So, I guess I,m not stock.

But, I have a different take on what stock is then you guys. To me stock is anything you can do to improve the performance without adding headers, cam, blower, etc. I know I am parting ways with the purists, but hear me out. I come from racing 440 mopars and 428 cobra jets way back in the past. Those things had to be tuned , and tuned and retuned. I used to race what was called pure stock , and if I didn't tune before raceday, I would lose to a car that I had beaten 3 or 4 weeks earlier.

So, if you can fast forward to today ,and with a laptop, a program , and some knowledge ,improve upon what was given to you by GM---WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING ELSE, OR ADDING ANYTHING ELSE, I consider that a stock car, enhanced but still stock.

I know that I'm in the minority, But ,to me tuning is not a lot different then lowering tire pressure, as both optimize what you were given.

If you can make your car go faster by tuning out the dumbed down parameters that GM saddled you with and removing the TM, then at least to me , you are smart stock , rather then out of the showroom stock.

SHOOTER, a lot of what you say makes sense and I can agree with you somewhat. However the only real reason to make the rules is to distinguish it for those that want to compete on the respective lists. To me I could care less about the classification. The fact that one C6 can hit an 11.7 stock doesn't mean sh*t to me as long as I can beat him, regardless of what mods I may or may not have. Setting your car up to win is what's most important. The rules and list is just to make a somewhat even playingfeild for those who wish to compete on it.

i agree with both of you guys in the old days you could change timing and even metering rods and be bone stock, but this list and rules are diferent, you have to play with the rules that are in effect. i like to play pool call every ball and pocket, my rules my table. APA any ball any pocket as long as you hit the ball you called, that's their rules that's why i don't play APA

And I agree and fully support the intention of keeping this list clean and pure. But , the reality of our list is that with so many variables in play, tracks, altitudes, DA, temps, etc., that we are never really comparing two cars, but rather a range.

It would be cool to see a challenge at the same track among the leaders on the same day.Stock tires and no bolt ons, but tune till you risk blowing it up.

Frank "Evilways" warming up for another 11 second pass

Please see page 1 post # 6 for instructions & rules

THE LIST

Regarding correction factors:
Times are received from all over the country and are not corrected. Because track and weather conditions vary, this list ranking does not, and can not, identify the fastest cars or drivers in any particular order. It only lists the recorded times, regardless of conditions, in order from quickest to slowest. In cases where ET is the same, the higher MPH determines list order.

Well thanks guys, now i feal better. When i was at bristol dragway the other day i saw about 5 new gto,s run, and they only got a 13.5, so maybe i just live in a bad area for making great power. I actually got a worse 60 ft on nitto drag radials than on the stock runflats. (2.25) but i stil got a 12.90.What kind of times are yall running?

What were the conditions?? I've run the 1/4 mile twice and both times, the conditions were bad. Of course it was summer, high DA and high temps...100+ and I'm right there with you, similar mods at the time.
