Just got back from a cruse and my 05 MN6 vette is wining from the trrasmission or rear end, I think. Everytime I put a load on the engine/trasmission it starts wining. At about 60mph I can put it in neutral and quite, but when I put it in gear and give it gas it make an bad wining noise. What could it be? By the way, my warrantee just went out 1 week ago. I have an extended warrantee, but was hoping it was something I can fix with some advise from you pros... It has 21k miles on it and the noise just started today. PLEASE, PLEASE help!
Sounds like the differential. That's what they sound like when they start to ware out. Should be covered under warranty. I hope it has OEM type fluid in it.
Keep us posted.

It does have OEM fluid in it, it's never been changed. I have heard that changing the fluid with synthetic fluid will fix the problem sometimes, but i don't want to do anything that will void my extended warrantee. The factory warrantee expired last week!

You have the extended warranty and sometimes the dealers will honor the factory warranty for a short time after it expires. Synthetic will not fix it.
Either way the car is covered under a warranty. However if it just went out calenderwise, GM will most likely warranty it under there good faith policies. Just take it to a dealer, it sounds like the rear end. It is possible that the noise could be from the tranny as well as I just replaced a tranny in a c5 that had a whining noise when idling in neutral, and when in 4th gear under power.
Usually a whining noise under load is the pinion gear. The pinion is spiral cut and is trying to climb up the ring gear under load. If there is excessive backlash, or if the pinion bearings are worn, it will make a terrible whining noise.
Do not try to quiet it. Anything you do like changing oil will only be temporary and then the major repair will end up costing you later. Get it addressed immediately and see if they will cover it under your original warranty. Just tell them it started a few weeks ago, but you were out of town for the holidays.
Thanks everyone, I will take it in this week and hope they cover it under the factory warantee. I am still interested in anyone else that may have had this problem and how long I will be without my vette...
Anyone out there had this problem? I'm taking into the deal;ership today and would like to know where I stand! I hate being "DUMB" when I hand over my car. Please, give me some good advise!!!!!!!!!!
