Give a month a recheck. The heat and the vibration will effect it.

I don't think they will warranty your engine when they find out all the debirs in the cylinder.

Hey, Asian winkie, i thought you said that you weren`t on here to bash the Vararam? Yet all your posts are bashing Funny, i have had the Vararam on my car for over 2 years now and i have never had a problem. I think its all about the install, and if you install it the wrong way, anyone will have problems. And by the photos that you posted you can clearly see the crack,so who`s fault is that? If you had a crack why did you install? Why would you install something that was cracked? I think that you messed up the install and are blaming others when you should be accountable.

I could get real details on Vararam and start the name calling, but I am not here for that. There are several posting about this problem and I want people to be aware. This is nothing to over look lightly because it could lead to catastrophic failure. Its your $$$, go ahead and install what ever you want but be warned.

I am glade you are not going through what many of us have experienced, but there are always exception to the rule. It is a very expensive gamble that many people are taking. From what I have been reading, the quality and reliability on Vararam is a hit or miss.

Are you talking about the crack on the bottom of the intake side? I can't 100% that is a crack but why would that effect what is BEHIND the filter?

When you installed the unit did you look to see if the gasket made the perfect seal? I bet you didn`t. What do the directions say about the install? Make sure both pieces are together before you install into the car. I can almost bet my bottom dollar that you installed the bottom piece first and then the top piece and then put the straps on....That is the wrong way to do it...Anytime you want to strap those pieces together its supposed to be out of the car...Its in the directions...And if you followed the directions you would have seen that the gasket didn`t properly match up....Its all about the install.

The entire unit should be sealed with straps outside the car and then install as one unit.

I use to turn wrentch for a living and I can assure you that it was installed properly. The problem comes from heat, vibration, weak glue, and foam. The glue or double sided tape is not strong enough. My Vararam come form the factory with miss aligned foam. It was all over the place so I had to correct it.

The overall quality of the product is not there. Plastic is too thin and looks like it start distorting under heat.

K&N and KB use much thicker plastic yet they both distort.

Mine did to but i called Steve and he sent me the gaskets for free and extras too. I am telling you that its like anything else, you just don`t throw it on their and forget about it....Its just like checking oil/tires.
Simple pre-trips once in awhile.

But don't you think the quality should be much better for the $$$ you are paying? Special on such a critical piece?

Anything can happen in shipping. So i don`t blame anyone for the gaskets, but as far as quality goes....I am telling ya, its top notch, i get complements all the time and i also put a little armoral on it and it shines. Now i know some people don`t think that the quality is good but i don`t see what there talking about and i have 20/20
Maybe i am lucky, i guess, but i will always stand by this product because it flat out works and looks good. By the way i am a truck driver and i am not in anyway getting paided to say this I drive concrete trucks for a living, Kenworlths

I have to disagree, it ain't like checking your oil or tires.

I can't remember the last time I thought I had to check to see if MY air cleaner was still working right, and not falling apart on any car, truck, bike or boat I've ever owned (aftermarket or not).

Why wouldn`t you check to see if the gaskets were sealed before installing in the car? Can you answer that? Did you ever own a Vararam?
If not then this discussion has nothing to do with you.

I would check everything when installing something, but that isn't what you said, maybe you should re-read your own post.

I admit I don't own a Vararam, for a reason. Sorry if you don't like my opinion in YOUR discussion, but tough S&*t.

It is all about the install. You have adjust correctly,On mine It was
cutting the angled coupler about 1/2" more. I had the big filter that was too big for the front and had no design to it. "big filter"
is about it.and the fit was worse, Couldn't see how it was supposed to get air since it was solid rubber on the bottom where the then Vette -air (good product for stock 08's or K&N's unit.) bring's the air in and the bottom layed on the shroud futher blocking air. Only thing left was pulling some warm/cool air mix from the underhood.Unless
you make a cover.
Vararam is no worrys if you get it together and on correctly.
least all you get is cold air period.
