Default Brake fluid replacement

Hello,

Car is 2007 Z51. I'd like to upgrade my brake fluid at the same time as I install Stoptech lines. I have not even bled my brakes on this car yet. I understand the tool of choice is the one by Motive.

How do you replace one fluid with another? Do you flush out the first one entirely, filling the system up with air, and then flush the air out with new fluid? Or do you use the new fluid to flush out the old one? Do they end up mixing?

Like most people, I don't have a TechII tool. Is the Motive bleeder enough to get all the fluid out of the ABS reservoir, or is that a problem?

Thanks!

I used the Motive Power Bleeder to flush-out and change my brake fluid to Motul 600 fluid. Even running in road course events I never had a problem...it worked well enough.

However, after I installed my SS brake lines, I decided to have the dealership do it so they could 'completely' flush the system (and re-fill it with Motul 600). As you referred to, without a Tech II I could not 'exercise' the ABS circuits. I figured it was worth the money to have the dealership do it 'right' (at least once).

So the pressure from the Motive is not enough to exercise the ABS?

Also, how did you do the fluid swap? Total flush with air, or one fluid pushing out the other?

Thanks!

The norm is one fluid pushing out the other.

Yes the Motive Power bleed will work just fine. In four years and countless brake flushes and bleeds with the Motive I have never had a problem. Heck I have never seen a Tech II

Take a turkey baster and suck all the old brake fluid out of the MC, replace with new brake fluid,

Can you use speedbleeders in place of a Motive Power bleeder? Meaning, if I put speedbleeders at all four corners and have someone pump the brakes while I watch the MC level and wait I see Motul coming through the lines, would that be a good way to go?

Some what. The Power bleeder is best to push the old then new brake fluid though the lines under pressure, and not let gravity pull the brake fluid though the speed bleeder

If you're pumping the brakes, doesn't it pressurize the lines, so if you just open the speed bleeder and start pumping the brake pedal (making sure not to let the MC run dry), doesn't it accomplish the same thing to flush the old brake fluid and put the Motul in?

Also, is there a bleeding order? Starting from furthest away to closest?
