Hmmm...I'll have to read up on this "Engine Drag Control".
I can't imagine a situation where adding throttle automatically without the driver's participation would be a good idea...The driver might be trying to get the vehicle stopped using every means at their disposal...antilock brakes, engine drag, dragging their sneaker.
If Thelma and Louise had been driving a Corvette, and changed their minds at the last moment, they might have gotten a little extra boost at the end to keep the tires from skidding.
It's only there long enough to stop the rear tires from skidding, which could cause loss of control.

Perhaps GM programmed it such that if the brake system is pressurized, EDC does not engage. Most of their controls seem to be well thought out.

Yeah, I'm sure there must be some kind of if/then logic programmed in. The engineers actually do a pretty good job of thinking through the safety implications.
Sometimes, it just seems like too many driver functions are being taken over by the machine in order to keep us from sticking our head down a cannon muzzle and pulling the lanyard. I lean more to individual responsibility and Darwin's Law myself.
I'm reminded of my son's adherence to the PC idea of turning the water heater thermostat way down to protect young children from burning themselves with hot water. On the surface, it seems like a good idea...but then, no one in the household ever has hot water, and children grow up to be adults ignorant of the idea that really hot water CAN come out of a faucet.
I appreciate all the advise on down shifting, and I'm fully aware of the dangers to the tranny. the reason I asked was, after about 5 months with the new tune I noticed the problem for the first time and was just wondering if it was normal? If I want to beat on a car I'm sure Cameron will let Me use His Just messing with You Buddy
it's a lot cheaper to replace brake linings than clutch linings, although braking doesn't sound as cool as downshifting
Exactly! I only downshift if I wasnt coming to a complete stop. The car is in lets say 4th gear, I see a red light up ahead and I brake and throw the clutch in right before the car comes to a complete stop.
