Default Keep hitting the rev limiter

I hit the rev limiter 50% of the times, I keep short shifting so I don't hit the limiter, I can't do a redline shift like the CPU, so from now on I leave it in S or D

from a roll I down shift to the correct gear and once I punch it I pop it in D then S, shifts right at redline

sick of hitting the limiter

and like other members, if my wheels spin or car goes sideways in 1st I can't shift to 2nd via the paddles

The paddles have always been a problem trying to shift in the upper RPM's near redline. It's best to use the tranny in "S" for competition shifting as it will allow the engine to use the entire RPM band......I hope someone will someday come up with a fix for this problem as I like to use the paddles myself and would like more instant shifts with them...

You have to learn and train yourself at what rpm below redline you need to shift so that you dont hit the limiter. Once you do, it no longer becomes such an issue. Generally, it is at least 500-600 rpm below redline (5800-5900 rpm's). Its the nature of the A6 paddle system...it takes a bit for the computer to get the message to shift. Its a little better in the '08 but am afraid you'll have to wait for the C7 for, hopefully, a major improvement. btw-folks who drag race their C6 A6 at the strip
never use the paddles to shift, just "S" mode.

Mine has hit the rev limiter in S mode before. Not often but occasionally which is still too often. Should never happen in S mode.

yeah I've tried to practice, but it seems to always throw me off in 1st, because 1st revs so much faster than the other gears and the biggest problem is

1. when the wheels spin, the paddles don't work

I have heard that other '08 A6 owners have tractions problems too...its either more TM (Torque Management) added to the '08 or the added HP is beyond the threshold of the runflats...though I see you added the shocks and sways. Dont have those problems on my '07...one good thing to be said for the LS2!

hold the coffee in your left hand. gotta be quick with the shift though, esp. during turns.

in that case, she will need to be the one handling the stick.

to answer the op, i agree with the others. you will need to determine the 'delay' for each shift at the desired rpms and adjust accordingly.
