Looks like this really isn't a bolt-on or reversible install. Step 16 of the instructions says "Cut the exhaust pipes ahead of the catalytic converters forward of the weld. Position the starter tubes and weld in to place. *Remove the bolts from the forward exhaust hanger and lower the exhaust to gain access to weld the top of the cat."

And that sounds like the big factory cats would end up under the car, and there's not much room down there. So it sounds like you'd still want an X-pipe with cats, which would bring the price up to pretty close to the other guy's with the cats and X-pipe.

the instructions are a bit confusing from what I read so I went and talked with our main R&D guy that developed all of our Corvette headers -

on the 97 to 03/04 vettes (6817 and 6818 p/n's) there is a set of factory cats that sit right were the collectors of the JBA LT headers exit at (just past the bell housing under the trans)- which is where our starter tubes come in and then you would weld our starter tubes to the existing cats - you are still eliminating the facotry precats on the factory manifolds

on the 05 and up (might be 06 - p/n 6819) GM put the cats more inline with the factory manifolds and they are eliminated in the process of installing the LT headers - if someone wanted to put cats in right at the collectors of the JBA long tubes they would have to use a set of smaller aftermarket cats because the GM factory cats are too big and would give you guys clearence issues (just as Buffy mentioned above) - which is why long tube headers are considered offroad use only because you are moving the location of the factory cats.

BUT - we are working on a solution to this and when i stepped into the R&D department the LS7 we have in house was on the lift and one of the guys was holding an X pipe assemply and making measurments for where you would want to have aftermarket cats installed - no promisses now but I think we are finding a solution and in which case we will revise the instructions - course as I know more so will you guys

I saw these posted a while back. This is a great price and JBA has a great reputation. I can see these taking off soon. Just need a little more press in the vette community.
