Default Larger wheel size affect SOTP?

In the process of changing to 19" front, 20" rear wheels on 05 A4 3.73 w/ 2800 converter. I was getting fantastic acceleration with stock wheel size.

How will increasing wheel size affect pull? I guess I'll find out, just wanted some explanations from other members.

If they're heavier (either the wheels, the tires or maybe even both) then the car could feel (and actually BE) slower.
But if the new tires happen to also be stickier/grippier in a straight line then that could counter the extra weight as well.
Either way you're going to be quicker with those gears and that converter in there.

Heavy wheels will certainly slow you down some.

Unless your diameter/circumference changes which effectively changes the final drive ratio.

Bigger rims move the wt further away from the hud center. Takes more energy to rotate bigger and heaver rims. so YES you will feel a difference.

If you want to go quicker go smaller, 18" or 17" all around rims.

each pound of rotating wt ( unsprong wt ) is approximately 6 1/2 pounds of regular wt.

Which is why when you go to an after market wheel like, ForgeLine so much time is spent on concentrating the weight to the center of the wheel as you can. If you want to go bigger and increase performance at the same time look for a company that can build the wheel using light weight hoops with a strong center so that if you do go bigger you will keep the weight down as much as possible.

To answer the question, yes increasing wheel weight will make the car slower to respond and will take more HP to turn.

Thanks.

Rims and new tires are significantly less weight from the old C6 OEM wheels and GY runflats. The new tires are 1.5" wider and waaaay more sticky. That's not what I was worried about.

I've had the 3.73 gears and the converter for 6 months and am loving the fast pull.

What I am concerned with is if the larger diameter of the new wheels/tires will lessen this pull. Will I loose the "sense of power?"

With before and after tire diameter it is fairly easy to do the math, scaling your senses is another matter.

Lower profile tires also add some more hardness to the ride.
