question about Torco additive
well I can see this going back and forth, I look at this way
your car do as you will
only you to blame on what you put in it.
whatever the outcome be, your responsibility
peace of mind, I've feel good with the 93 octane I can get, good enough for me.

Factual discussion is good, name-calling is not.
This thread has been reported WAY too many times. Once more and it's gone, and some of the posters along with it.l
How about this:
Have Torco spend a couple of hundred bucks to have their claims substantiated (an oustide lab can eaily verify both the R and M rating claims!!!!).
This is a win win for everyone (unless there's something to hide) and it will CERTAINLY increase sales as I know I'd start buying a TON of this stuff (and so would plenty others just like me) because I'm somewhat skeptical right now (nothing personal to the vendor in this thread!!).
Torco, are you listening? Maybe the Torco representative that's a member here (was bickering earlier in the thread) could contact his superiors at Torco with the following proposition:
If Torco will have an outside test performed by a reputable independant lab that will document all findings and the test would go something like:
Add 1 unit (whatever the recommended ratio is) Torco to 1 gallon of 93 Octane (R+M/2) gasoline (again, whatever the recommended ratio is), and if it raises the octane 4 or more points, then I will commit to buying 20 gallons of this stuff! (Yes, that's how badly I need an alternative to $8/gal 100 oct race gas!!!!).
Would anyone else on this forum commit to a purchase if they will agree to and successfully pass this verification test (or some variation that we all agree to) above?
If we could get enough folks to say "I'm in for 5 or 10 gallons" then this test would EASILY pay for itself with just a few folks agreeing like I have above.....
This will end all the stupid BS/arguing and actually give us some real numbers. Can you imagine how quickly the news would travel all over the net of Torco would commit to this? This could be HUGE for Torco!!!
I'd say they are in a very unique position to make some BIG bucks and set a standard for "Octane Booster." No more talk... Just facts at this point!

If we find out for sure that the unleaded version of it does not have MMT in it, I'm in. I'd give it a shot. Why not.
If we get something posted up here from an independent laboratory, (not a dealer or Torco themselves), stating the outright absence of MMT, whats a bottle of it going to hurt?
I wouldn't commit to 20 gallons. But yeah, I'd be in for a 6 pack of 32 oz cans. Absolutely. And you can use this post for reference.
Also you mentioned "4 points". Don't confuse that with 4 octane numbers. 4 points is taking you from 93 octane to 93.4 octane.
4 octane numbers would get you to 97. I can get 93 octane now, and thats what I run, if 97 octane helps me, gets me more power, then I'd try it.
As I understand that article though, linked to in post #24 of this thread, The Torco folk have run into some financial difficulties. So this probably won't happen.
But I think where you are missing the boat at is, no one is saying that Torco won't raise octane, by 2-3 numbers. By all accounts, it does that.
The big issue for many of us is does it have MMT in it? Because it leaves a telltale residue behind which indicates that it just very well might. And MMT is a substance which GM comes right out and says to avoid in your fuel.

If Torco has hit money problem and can't cough up a grand for this test, then they have no business making fuel additives for engines that cost upwards of $50K.... With that being said, I have no idea what Torco's financial status is.
Additionally, I'm talking about 4 full octane points ( as in 93 to 97) and not .4 points.

Thats the important part for many here, myself included, and not just the ability to boost octane. We are concerned about long term engine life.
Show me a clean independent report for MMT and yes, I am in and willing to give it a shot.
But I won't, and many others here won't, knowingly put in a fuel which contains a substance, or might contain a substance, which goes against the recommendations in the owners manual. No matter what boost in octane number is promised, or even proven for that matter.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

Not being sarcastic, just asking, or maybe I'm missing something.
Let's not lose sight and start asking for unrealistic expectations.
My criteria was very specific and applicable to Torco. I'm not asking for them to guarantee ANYTHING short of a 93 to 97 point octane change and to confirm that they DO NOT use MMT.
Just an "I'm in" will suffice. It's on you to tune your car and extract every last HP with the alleged added octane this product will provide.
Torco, ARE YOU IN if we get 10 more folks to commit?

Well said.I would be in also for a bottle.

. I have run nothing but 93 octane since new and we have it all over the place in the Western New York area. But i would buy 1 bottle anyways as long as its safe for all users and it doesn`t damage or leave any types of deposits or contain MMT.

I would run it personally if I needed it. My small N2O shot is fine on 93 with my tune.
