Default C6 6 speed automatic Rev Limiter

I hate the fact that I can't rev the engine over 4000 rpm in park or neutral. I put straight pipes on the car and when I rev it it sounds like it's dying for fuel when it hits 4K.

Has anyone disconnected the rev limiter and if so please tell me how to do it. My wife is embarassed when a Mustang pulls up next to us and revs their motor and I just avoid the embarassment of revving ours.

HELP!!! I hate this!

I've never heard of this... my 2006 6-speed manual has no trouble revving all the way up when the clutch is depressed. Must be an 'automatic trans' deal.

I don't know if using a Predator or other tuner would help this issue or not.

Good luck,
Kent

Simple fix...have someone with HP Tuners change the limits....if you were here, I'd do it for you...sorry

Why would you want to free rev at a light?

The C6 isn't a Ricer with fart cans.

Charlie,,,did You notice what Mine was set for when You tuned it last week?
I think the rev limiter on Mine should be 200 over at the max rpm's.
Thanks

There are better ways to deal with the stoplight crazies.

1. Totally ignore them. You can still sneak a peak to see their frustation if you're wearing sunglasses.
2. Casually glance and smile the "you gotta be kidding, I'd whip your a--" smile.
3. Laugh hysterically and point at their car.
4. Appear to be excited and preparing to race.
5. Give them a and then revert to #1.

When using the #1 method, try a rapid start halfway accross the intersection when they least expect it, then let off and drive like a normal person. If you line up again use the #2, 3, or 4 approach.

If using #2, 3, or 4, or any combination, practice self-control to the max and watch them roar away making a fool of themselves while you slowly motor on.

You could also get your wife to flirt with them while you use #1. That distracts them tremendously.

You'll have more fun (and using less gas) this way than playing their game.

Just about all automatic equipped cars have a 4k rev limiter in PARK. It's so overzealous owners don't free rev the engine to death.

All the revving you'll need should be done once the light turns green. Then I'm sure your wife wont be embarrassed. As for the Mustang owner.......

I've always heard that revving an engine high in neutral or park (no load) is one of the worst things you can do to your motor. Urban legend or not, there's a reason for that limiter.

I read a post here a while back that mentioned some guy who would do very bad things to rental cars. One of which was to go out on a cold morning and put the gas peddle to the floor then start it. I love the sound of an engine bouncing off the rev limiter in the morning. Never buy a used rental car or maybe any used car for that matter.

I though this is what ricer drivers do.

Personally I like the very deep low rumble of a lopy cam, through LTs, and straight pipes sitting at a street light.

Why would your wife be embarrassed when she's in the Corvette and there is a retard in a Mustang next to you revving the engine?!?!?!
